Sometimes, not every time, when started cold and driven a couple of minutes there is a strong odor of gas both inside and outside car. After stopping for a while then restarting problem goes away. Might do it today then skip 4 or 5 days then do it again. Does not seem to be weather related, does it on warm as well as cool mornings, rain or dry, etc. Any ideas?

Feel like a dummy, after thinking about it I realized it must be the drive belt. Popped the hood and sure enough it was shredded. $25 at Autozone and 30 minutes took care of it.

Started my 2001 LS430 this morning, while backing up it went dead. turned of AC, radio, etc. it started back up but battery indicator light came on and power steering stopped working. Anybody know what is wrong?

I have a 1997 LS400 with 240,000 miles which needs a water pump. Did one about 3 years go and did timing belt and pullies at that time. Shop says they wont do job without doing them again plus doing cam seals. Total over $2,000. Is this acurate and necessary?

My 97 ls400 has recently started vibration which comes and goes, vibrates for 2-3 seconds then stops 2-3 seconds then starts again. Does not do it at idle, but asyou start to accelerate it begins. Seems to be worst about 1900-2100 rpms. Does it in park as well as moving. Asked a couple of shade tree guys about harmonic balancer but they don't think so. One said needed a tune up, I replaced plugs, distibutor caps and rotors with no change. Did not replace ignition wires. Anyone have a suggestion?
