  1. Just an update...the problem was fixed!!! :chairshot: Drivers side coil went out  It idled smooth, but it felt like it was running on 4 cyl (it actually was! :censored: ) Since it had 2 dizzys and no trouble codes thrown, I had a bear of a time trying to diagnose it (I've grown accustomed to the 1 dizzy) I was very surprised that the code for a misfire wasnt thrown...Then again we're talkin about the basic OBD. Anyways, now it runs like a top, especially after the extensive cleaning/replacement of all the worn parts. Hopefully the trans can handle the new power lol Thanks you all for your help!

Big Thanks guys... my dad's LS was doing the same thing, changed the plug wires and that didn't resolve the issue... i came on the forum and read up on this and exact same problem. The coil was bad.

  2. Found and fixed the problem I had with the engine knocking. It was the 3rdth spark plug under the intake that was loose along with the spark plug wire. So i changed all the plugs and now it's running perfect. I always thought if it was the plugs, at least the check engine light would come on. But anyways, simple fix. Thnx....

  3. Hello everyone, I read up on the engine knocking on this forum and found some good info that I will try out tonight but wanted to see if anyone has any latest info on other causes and how to resolve it.

My 98 GS300 engine is knocking at idle speed. If I rev up the engine knocking sound get faster and faster due to the acceleration. I’ve always put Premium gas in it. It has 115,000 miles on it. Only thing I have not done is changed the timing belt, but have frequently inspected it and it looked fine. Will be doing that tonight along with trying to listen where the sound is coming from.

Possible cause/solution I read up on:

    - using seafoam fuel injector cleaner

    - valves out of adjustment

Please let me know if you have other suggestions. Thanks!

  4. Hello everyone.. I have a 98 GS300. Couple weeks back when it got below 25 degree weather in Minnesota my Neutral light on the dash lit up, even if I was in Drive and other gears. It went away that day but now it's back and the check engine light comes on as well. I had it diagnosed from one place and got the following code P1780 (Park and Neutral Switch malfunction). But finally took it to Lexus dealer today and they also did a diagnostic and didn't find any error codes and said that PNP switch is working just fine. They are wanting to take the gear console apart to see what wrong with it and charging good deal of money. So I need some help here to figure out what I can do. I tried resetting the ECU, but the check engine lights comes back on after a while.

If anyone has encountered this problem in their Lexus or have suggestions, let me know...

    Thanks, Pardesi
