  1. well the thing is the GS rim's spoke will hit the brake caliper becasue it is now alot thicker. so if you can find a spacer that will space out the rim enough so that the rims dont hit the caliper or stick out the fender then you got it!

sorry if i'm just repeating myself but i'm talking about these GS rims:

  2. Today my sc300 was hit by this guy pulling out of a church parking lot. I was going 25mph and there was a car parked against the curb so the guy who hit me couldn't see me. he decided to pull out and go for it, but ended up hitting my right front quarter panel. The turn signal is shattered and the cornering light is pushed underneith the car, and some of the plastic panels were pushed against the wheel; the projector housing appears to be ok. the guy who hit me was driving a blue 94 pontiac sunbird and his whole front end is smashed, his bumper was ripped off and came to a hault next to my car and his radiator was cracked, and all the lights were shattered. Worst of all this was the guys second accident in less than a week. a couple of days ago he rolled his car drifting, and bought the sunbird which now appears to be totalled. I had two friends in the car and we are all ok, and thankfully the airbags did not go off, for if they did the car would have been totalled. The accident was his fault to hopefully his insurence will pay for it, giving me a practically new car on the right side (i have blue paint scratches traveling the length of the car)

i'm glad we were all ok, but i want my baby back. :cries: :cries: :cries:

  3. I desperately need some new brake pads, the dealership said i had 20% left and that was a couple moths ago, and i've had several consecutive nights of hard driving. Since i cannot afford a big brembo/stop tech up grade night now i'm just going to buy pads. With the racing season starting up (circuit and drag) i'm looking to buy high performance pads. The 300 is my daily driver so i cannot just go with strict racing pads, but what are the pads with the best balance of racing and street?

  4. I'm looking to convert my cornering lights to fog lights using the directions on intellexual.net. This site has proved useful to members throughout the community including myself. In the directions you need to find a relay with 5 different spades on it. My question is: where is this specific relay located? Is it in the fuse box? if so, which one? I have minimal electronic expirence so my apologies.

    Thanks for the help

P.S. the directions also talk about t-taps. What are these?

I just went to radio shack and bought an automotive relay. I dont think there is one "to find" on the car for the fog light install. Pretty sure your gonna have to buy one that the website describes to use.

:blushing: ah that's why. i assume that relay plugs into the fuse box, yes? thanks for the help

  6. I recently completed my BFI on my SC300, and i'm loving ever aspect of it. I can feel a real power gain; i love the new more aggressive sound, and best of all it was free. I was wondering if there are any other do it yourself mods that i could attempt. I know i will end up spending gobs of money on this car, but i want to complete all the performance mods that a layman could.

speaking of: does anyone know how/knows where the bolts for the back seats are placed. I am interested in removing them to save weight.

    Thanks for all the help

  7. i'm looking to upgrade to HID's, and i have researched the technology on intellexual.net and a few other sites. They all seem to recomend Phillips or Sylvania. I'm still open to all options, but i want a quality product; i don't care about blue or purple tints. I want to know where you have bought your HID's and if you could give me any help it would be greatly appreciated.

  8. Well, considering the timing belt could have been replaced 3 times by your current mileage (every 60,000 recomended) I'd say it's a good idea to do it again if it hasn't been done within the last 70,000 or so.

There's nothing worse than having your timing belt break or your water pump seize up. If the belt breaks or skips a few teeth the valves will get smashed by the pistons and then you're looking at an engine rebuild or possibly a low mileage motor to replace it.

I have seen timing belts go a lot farther than 60,000 miles but it's not worth it to risk it.

Also, keep up on those oil changes, we had an LS400 come in last week for a new motor because the cam shaft seized on the freeway. It seized because the oil passageways were clogged with thick dirty oil.

I'm good about changing the oil in the car, and i know the huge risks of having an old timing belt. My problem is i need to find a reputable shop that doesn't charge an arm an a leg.

Does anyone have an idea of how much an timing belt replacement should cost?

  9. Get a can of silicone spray and lightly mist the belt with the engine running. If the squeak goes away it's your belt that should be replaced. If the squeaking continues then it probably is the AC clutch assembly, or some other pully that the belt drives.

As for your timing belt, what's the mileage on your car?

    -David

    207,037

this is the second timing belt.

  10. I went to the dealer two and a half weeks ago for some diagnostics and an oil change. The total came to 170 dollars. I told them that i thought a belt was squeaking but it increased in pitch to about 2500 RPM. They said it was the AC clutch assembly and to fix it the cost wouldl be 2200 dollars! They also said the serpentine (timing) belt needed to be changed and that would be 450 dollars.

my first question is, is the AC clutch assembly really responsible for my squeak. Two: is there a reputable shop in OREGON where i can get a new serpentine belt installed, I don't really have 500 dollars.

It's lexus and they treat you well, but the good service comes at a very steep premium.

  11. Our cars are fat, we all know this, but when you have a 100+ hp advantage, in a straight line you are going to rape him. No contest plus you have rear wheel drive whcih is a more effective drivetrain compared to front wheel drive.

No worries, race him, kill him, and sit there with a giant grin on your face.

  12. The other day i noticed that smoke (exhaust emissions) were still coming out of my tail pipes almost a full minute after i shut the car off. I am also buring a quart of oil in the course of three weeks (driving everyday.) I wonder if these two are connected, but i'm especailly worried about the exhaust. It's a '94 SC300 with 206,003 miles.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

  13. My 94 SC300 will not start. The lights and stereo work so it is not the battery, but when you turn the key to start the car, you hear one click, and then silence, i think it is the alternator, i don't have an OBD meter, so i'm hoping you guys can help my out.

    :cries:

  14. will a downpipe made for the JZGTE work on the SC300?

Also i want to save money and have an exhaust specialist do my piping and buy some mufflers, what is an appropriate diameter for the piping? What is a good muffler for the SC300?
