  1. I don't think you're stupid, Lexus is. They designed the car as your mother , to prevent you from hurting yourself. There is an override available here is the link...............http://www.prestigioussociety.com/. I installed this myself. They seem to be available 24/7 in case you need help. I have owned 4 RX's....this is my last. They have eliminated good features that were on previous models. The RX is no longer a luxury suv. Lexus is NOT pursuing perfection....they are pursuing the dollar.

  2. Thanks in advance for any help. I've read the manual, read posts, and am still having trouble.

Basically, I want to know the quickest/easiest way to find a list of the closest Starbucks while driving. It seems like the most basic function to me, but I just can't get the system to do it. Perhaps part of the problem is that I've been using a Garmin for some time and haven't grasped a new system. Also, I'm stupid.

In any event, I'd very much appreciate any guidance. No pun intended. Thanks.

I have had the same problem. The only way that I have found around it is to pull over and stop. Then all of the features become active again. I guess it's a safty thing they don't want you fooling with it while driving.

Would like to hear if their is a way around it.

  3. I received an ad from Lexus stating the navigation upgrade (11.1) is available for my 2010 rx 350 at a cost of $169. My dealer, when called, stated that the price is $289.00 and that he must install it. What is going on with the price? Why can't I install it myself?

  4. I find the unoperable nav while in motion a bad decision by Lexus.

And almost every other carmaker who offers nav.

This is the very attitude that I got from my dealer. This is my 4th and last lexus, not because of the car, I have purchased workarounds for most things lexus didn't do, but because of the dealer attitude, similar to what the forum manager said.....well everyone else does it this way; deal with it! This is not the persuit of perfection, it is persuit of the buck.

  5. Thank you all for your replies this far. I'm aware of the nav lockout while driving but honestly it's never been much of an inconvenience on our ES300 so I'm not concerned about it on this newer Lexus, unless they've restricted more functions.

Brad, I'm surprised you paid that much more. I believe the $47k includes the AWD model with Nav, although I do not believe it includes the rear headrest DVD, but that still couldn't account for the 7k price difference. I'm guessing cars are more expensive in your area, but I'm in MA and referring to MA Lexus delearships, it's not exactly like things are cheap here either.

This car is primarily for my mother (seems most drivers of these are women, but honestly it seems like a great car and could care less what people think if they see driving it) and reliable AWD is what she needs. Tiptronic and performance options on the Audi are nice but she doesn't need it. My concern was more in regards to whether there are any known issue's with the AWD system on the RX350.

There are other limited function while driving in the audio and phone systems as well

  6. The microphone for the VR/phone in the 2010 rx 350 is in the ceiling console where the map light switches are located. When the vents are pointed upward the microphone picks up the "wind noise" and makes others with who you are speaking, have a difficult time hearing you. The answer from Lexus was..... change the position of the vent and/or lower the fan speed. This seems like a poor design to begin with. How about additional microphones one in front of the driver and one in front of the passenger. Anyone else having VR problems?
