  1. I have a working stereo for sale that is used and in great shape. I replaced it with another before I realized my amp had stopped working. I am asking $100 (+shipping - approx $14?). Email me for pictures if you'd like a visual but it's out of a '94. I believe it'll fit the '93 and perhaps others but I'm not certain.

The Amp mentioned above, is not working but you are welcome to it for free if you'd like the parts, and if you'll pay for shipping.

  2. I followed the "dancing wires" directions from the website and it worked like a charm. Admittedly, I had to try it about 10 times :censored: , before I got the rapid blinking light that indicates you've done it right.

I was able to keep the ground wire attached by just sliding it under the rubber cover/boot and the boot held it in place w/out a clip. This really is quite easy once you get the wires to the right length, as long as you have some patience.

  3. will this work for 93 SC400?

Yup, I'm pretty sure it will. Try it, the worst that would happen is it wouldn't work.

Wow! I just found your website and I really appreciate all your efforts on the photos and such. I'm going to try the airbag light reset tonight. I just replaced a capacitor in the cluster and had to drive it w/out the dash for a little bit. Thanks.

  4. 95 LS400 need replace front brake pad soon, my local lexus dealer quote for $75 per set.

They're only $51.19 per set at Park Place Lexus http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...808&catalogID=1 Since you don't have to pay sales tax, this offsets most of the UPS Ground shipping charge.

I just put on semi-metallics today (from Kragen Auto Parts) with new rotors I got on eBay. I don't expect them to last too long, but we'll see. The web site listed above seems like a great place to find and get parts for the do-it-yourselfer like me. Are they reputable? I think I may get ceramics the next go 'round, and order the $51 pads from this Lexus Dealer on-line. Thanks for sharing!!

  5. I just installed all 4 C452 speakers in my '94 this weekend. Wife had blown 2 right side ones, and the left sides finally gave out while waiting for me to make up my mind on replacements.

Thru this forum I was convinced to use the 452's and I don't regret it now. Went in fairly smoothly, really. Had to make mounting screw hole mods and notch for little pegs, but other than that. It went great. Thanks for the informative post. This is why these forums work!!

  6. I just installed all my replated gold "L" emblems for the '94LS, including the antenna "button" plus a replated gold grille trim, as well a used "LS 400" emblem I bought from an LOC member.  The result is outstanding.  Just after I finished working in the driveway, my neighbor who owns 2 cars, a truck and an RV and is a mechanic, came over and said the new trim made the car look brand new!  I'll be posting pictures of the finished work, but it's raining here, and I may have to wait a couple of days.

I'd like to give credit where it is due.  The guy who did the work is-

    Kurt B. Heinlein

    6916 E. 71st. Place

    Tulsa, OK. 74133

<goldaccentplating@sbcglobal.net>  I found him on EBay.

He is honest,, very responsive and professional.  He did my work over one weekend, and sent the emblems back quickly.  I could not be more satisfied, and I 'd like to post his charges to replate with a gold finish:

Emblems that have never been gold plated, or have the original chrome finish (which have to be stripped):

    $15.00 each

Emblems that are gold plated but worn or faded:

    $7.50 each

    For a faded gold grill:

    $30.00 each

    For a faded chrome grille:

    $60.00

So for about 60 bucks plus 5 bucks shipping, I have a complete set of replated trim.  For 20 bucks more, I added the LS 400 emblem, too.

Hello, moderators, please add this company to our vendors list.  Tops.

    Hey all,

I just used Kurt to "re-gold" my emblems for my '94 LS. (See TexasLexus94 Post dated June 8) Due to the weathering, they were very faded and pitted. I have to tell you, Kurt is the man.....he was able to give these a fresh look and for a more than fair price.

To be honest, because they were so weathered, they don't look like new, but they look damn good. You can't go wrong with him, he maintains good communications throughout the process and was fast for me. :D

  7. I have a '94 LS that I've owned for 3 years. If I have my way, I'll drive this car until it rots out from underneath me. I lexus mechanic told me "do not sell that car".

When asked why, he told me it was one of the best cars Lexus ever built. I tend to agree with him from an ownership standpoint, yet few appreciate it's quality, so I'd never get it sold for what it's really worth. Just my 2 cents.

  8. I replaced the dead speakers with Boston Accoustic's.  There where just what was available at the time.  They have worked out great and now all my speakers work.

    Thanks,

    Bob

    Bob,

Does this mean you didn't replace the amp, and it was just the speakers causing the problem? Did both or all three go out on one side of the car at the same time?

  9. Seems it was carstereohelp's web site I read some about water pooling under the back seat on many models, causing some intermittant shorting/corrosion to happen in/on the orange plug just behind the seat. Have you tried looking at the connections on yours?

FYI, I pulled the amp in the trunk, and the seat from the back last night. I pulled the amp completely apart looking for any trace of shorting out or burns on the board, and found nothing there. I saw there was no water evidence under the seat, so I didn't go much further to inspect the connection behind the seat (which appeared to be more of a pain to remove than I expected and I was running out of time). I'm going to assume the amp needs replacement, but with 1/2 the speakers working and a couple of new other purchases, I'm going to wait a bit on the amp repair. Maybe I can find a great deal on a used one before I mail it off and do w/out sound altogether for 3 weeks. Thanks for you input.

  10. Any further reports on carstereohelp?? I called them today describing the one channel out problem I'm having in my '94 LS Nak, and they told me to send the amp in, that was the problem.

Hey SRK, thought you were posting a follow up after you received the part back? Any other opinions? Where does one get an aftermarket amp that will work for these systems?
