  1. wwest has been banned from the LOC for a period of two weeks. I'm tired of him being rude and condescending to our RX400h owning members. He chose not to heed my repeated warnings about this behavior on this topic and this is the result.

I don't want to get into a peeing match here, but I dont see where wwest was "rude and condescending"

I'm not saying he/she wasn't but could someone point out the post.

to be fair, this board is chock full of info, the kind of stuff you cant get anywhere!!

    Thats good and bad.

I've had problems with my 330 and it seems (to me) that most of you guys just gloss over these things.

    continued later.....

  2. I can't find any evidence in the 400h documentation that it has tire pressure monitoring, like on the RX 330.  Is this correct? or does anyone know why it was omitted?

Similar question, has anybody seen the tire monitoring system (on any RX) "in action" ? How low must the tire be before it gives you a warning ? How does it work ?

I don't remember who told me (dealer or owners manual) but I believe it is around 3 PSI under will trigger the light.

I do know for a fact that the system works and works well. I was driving on a highway when the light came on. My first thought was that i was low on air, but after thinking that it (the light) should have been on when the tire was cold, I pulled over and found a screw in the passanger rear tire.

I was able to drive to the next service station and have it repaired. (I still cant belive that it costs 53.00 to plug a tire!!!) Something about having to plug from the inside. Tire had to come off the rim and rebalanced.

What would have been really cool would have been if the monitor "told" me what tire was going down!!! :)

  3. Did you own a 97 RX in the first year of its life?

All cars have issues that were not anticipated from the engineers when it is the first of a new design.

what would you rather have a broken switch or a broken crankshaft like a ford focus with 20 miles?

I understand what your saying but........

I bought my 330 new in march, since then..

    1. Trans lag, Ok, ive learned to live with it and drive accordingly

    2. Wind noise from the drivers and passenger windows, I wouldnt mind the noise if it wasnt for the draft that comes with it.

    3. The loud rattle that comes from the center of the dash.

    4. The creak in the moonroof. (fixed at the 5000 mi. service)

    5. The squeaking, creaking, groaning drivers seat. (fixed at the 5000 mi service)

    6. The HID's that while illuminating side to side, dont reach more than 30 feet in front. (dealer says its in spec)

thats just what i think are problems. What annoys me include:

    1. backup camera is a joke! Yes, sure, I wont run over anything but dont dare use it to park!

    2. Navigation system is average at best. The newest version still has me going down a one way street (the wrong way) thats been changed 5 years ago.

I have more but i think you guys get the point..

Brake switch? right, big f'n deal. What do i do when the brake booser goes??? Or what do i do when my wife gets t-boned because she doesnt understand "fly by wire"? What im trying to say is that some of these problems are not "minor problems"

I shelled out over 40 large for this car after leasing one for 3 (trouble free) years and im not a happy camper.

I really think Lexus quality has gone to crap.

  4. I've noticed on my RX330 that the automatic window feature raises the window slightly too high and bows the window seal slightly(the area where the window comes out of the door) (I stumbled upon this problem by just bumping the window down and noticed the change in road noise) Bumping the window back down slightly, restores the seal and significantly reduces road noise coming through this door/ window area seal.

I obviously notice this most on the driver's side but the passenger side is the same way.

Lexus attempted a fix once, but only was able to destroy the door panel in the process. It would seem the closing stop could be adjusted, but maybe not.

Anyone have a similar problem? Fixes? TSB?

    Thx in advance.

Wow! I've noticed the same thing on my 04. I thought it was just my ears. (Years of playing in bands tend to do that). It sounded like a window was open a crack. I lowerd the window a smidge and sure enough, it went away. Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, Its off to the dealer I go.

  5. I know the transmission is a big topic on here and I'm wondering about getting the RX myself b/c of a lot of what I've read on here.

I guess my question is ... for those of you who have the RX and have noticed a hesitation in the transmission ... would you make the same decision to buy after experiencing it first hand over a longer period of time? Too wordy I know.

Is it something you've gotten used to? Something that just bugs you still? Something you find dangerous?

I really think this transmission "problem" is BS.

I had a 1990 Mustang GT Conv. (auto trans.) If you punched the go pedal, the friggin wheels would spin into 3 gear! What exactly is the difference between instant responce (wheel spin) or lag (hesitation) If you now the car, You know what its going to do, and when its going to do it!

I loved that Mustang for everything it was supposed to be: A semi-muscle car that went fast in a straight line. Anyone who thinks it did anything more than that is kidding themselves.

I Bought my RX330 in March of 2004. I've found it to be exactly what I thought it would be A HIGH RIDING CAR!!!!!

If I wanted the pickup and handling I would of bought a corvette.

If i wanted the 4x4 bounce and handling of a peterbuilt I would have bought a Durango.

I find this "car" to be a nice blend between the two. What do people really expect, a Corvette that can climb mountains in 10 feet of snow???

Needless to say, I just got my RX back from her 5000 service. I had them change the oil with MY oil (not even a question asked) My "creaky" drivers seat was not only fixed, but they found a creak in the sunrood clip that i didn't even hear!

Not to mention they found a screw in the back tire that I forgot to tell them about.

Of course I got a nice es330 to drive for the day as a Free Loaner (which turned out to be overnight because I didn't feel like driving down at rush hour to pick up my car!)

Whew! didn't mean to vent but when I think back on all the cars I've had. I would never go back to my Ford or GM dealer and have anywhere the satisfaction i feel now.

  6. My Dealer talked me out of it when I bought it. I dont remember exactly why, but it had something to do with the security system or key. Has anyone had any luck installing one in an RX330? Is there a better brand? Are there any downfalls? Any help would be appr. Thanks in advance.

  7. You choose the state that your final destination is in. It will keep up by itself.

I dont know the exact number of POI, But I know that the upgrade usually comes out in Sept./Oct. They do charge for the update. I think its like $200.00.

I have seen posts here that say you can get it cheaper and install it yourself.

    Good Luck with the RX.

  8. I dont know if this helps but....... I had the same thing happen to me yesterday in my RX. It turned out to be something with the rear hatch. The dash light never came on but every couple of miles the chimes would go off. I opened the hatch and closed it again and it went away.

  9. Specifically, the one that has the side view mirrors drop to ground level. That's great when parallel parking, but we do very little of that, and it's kind of a pain the rest of the time.

If you leave the Left-Right switch on the mirror control in the middle, the mirrors wont move. If you leave it on the left both mirrors move and right makes only the right mirror move. Hope this helps.

  10. Hello all, Newbie here. I have a 2004 rx330 with 2000 miles on it. About a week ago my drivers seat started squeeking/creeking. Basically what i want to know is am I being anal? will the service dept. throw me out when i tell them? :)

This is my second rx. I was leasing a 2002 and loved the car so much I payed off the lease early and BOUGHT the 2004.
