WinoWally
My 2000 LS400 has developed a "howl" in the engine compartment. It is mostly noticeable at low RPMs -- I can feel vibrations as well as hear them. My mechanic replaced the fluid coupling with a new Lexus/Toyota part (not the "tow package" version), but the howl persists. I can hear the howl under the hood, especially when I remove the plastic trim parts between the radiator top and the grille. I'm wondering whether the serpentine belt (which looks OK when running) is making the noise and vibration. Any thoughts or experiences? Exhaustgases
It could be a bearing for some pulley on the way out, either serpentine or timing belt. And just for fun check the air filter.
