Exhaustgases
I got a new screen and gasket from Oreillys, the gasket is rubber. What are the factory stock ones made of? I am not a fan of rubber gaskets. They usually don't allow the bolts to tighten and hold their torque.
landar
The factory used FIPG (basically RTV) as a gasket and it is messy to clean up. If yours is a high quality gasket made of neoprene then it is probably ok but being from Oreillys', not sure. Your biggest issue is not bending the edges of the pan trying to pry it off the transmission. That factory FIPG really sticks tight. Take your time getting it separated. Once you bend it, it is difficult to get it back into shape so as not to leak.
Exhaustgases
Your right been there with RTV sealer for pan gaskets. I'm not a fan of that stuff on automatic transmissions either. Also if a person decides to reuse RTV, every thing has to have zero oil film on it. And that is super difficult on an oiled up already in the car transmission. Constant dripping all the time.
