dodgeb Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 i have a first gen ls that has a bad wheel bearing. i have alredy unbolted the strut, rear upper control arm, and the trailing arm. the only thing left is the parking brake cable connected to the rear axle carrier. i really dont want to have to take the whole car to a mechanic if i can do it myself. i just want to take the carrier in and have the bearing pressed in. any help wold be greatly appreciated.
landar Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Have a look at these threads -> http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66733&st=0&p=420719&hl="wheel%20bearing"&fromsearch=1entry420719 -> http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54973&st=0&p=353347&hl="wheel%20bearing"&fromsearch=1entry353347
dodgeb Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 Thanks for the links. I didn't see them when I searched. Those threads don't discuss how they removed the hub. they just say they got them off. I already have the rear axle carrier removed from the drive axle and from everything else. The only thing that is connected to the axle carrier is the parking brake cable. I was just looking at it and wondering if I have to remove the parking brake shoes to try and disconnect the cable. And like in those other thread my carrier is rusted like crazy. Maybe it would just be better to get a new axle carrier and install it myself.
