Has Anyone Replace The Power Steering Pump With An Electric Pump?

90 ls400 167K miles. I absolutely love the car. The thorn in my side is the $#!++/ power steering pump and the endless leaks. I've done everything from this forum, including a pump replacement x 2. It's been a ongoing frustrating struggle. I'd slow it down for a while, and then it was back.

I thought today about replacing the pump entirely with an electric pump. A little research turned up a few possibilities, but I wanted to check here first. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Has anyone ever gone powersteeringless for an extended length of time?

Can I just remove the pump and buy a new serpentine belt? Will this action screw up the rotation of something in the path?
