gdiodati
I am the original owner of a 2000 LS400. Recently the power steering system started leaking through what the mechanic says is the High pressure power steering hose. I nearly fell over when he said it is a dealer only part at $400.00, plus labor. Does anyone have a line on buying this OEM? I can do basic mechanical work, I don't think this would be difficult to change. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

RDM
An aftermarket hose will be a lot cheaper and should have a good warranty with it, as far as replacing it's pretty easy to do since it runs underneath the engine.
SRK
Take the entire assembly off the car and go to a good Aeroquip or industrial hydraulic shop - that provides hoses for bulldozers and such. They'll crimp a new hose onto the existing fittings for probably less than $50.00 and you'll be good to go.
