Ipod Interface Connection

Does anyone know if the connection for the IPOD (glove compartment) is difficult to connect to the radio. I am talking about the multi connector port on the bottom of the IPOD. I would love to put this in but it sounds like a major tear out of the radio. When I have had to pull my radio out of other cars they NEVER get back together like the original! I don't want to get a SAT connection but would like to view my selections on my NAV screen.
