Will 2004/05 Cd Changer Work In 2001 Car?

I've seen some conflicting information about whether a 2004--2005 stock CD changer will work in a 2001 lS.

Some posts I've seen suggest that the 2004/05 will work perfectly with a 2002 and 2003 IS, but not the 2001.

Please tell me what you know.............
