1990 Ls400 Ignition Switch Problem

StayHot

Recommended Posts

Just bought this car from an auction. The battery was dead so we put in a new one. The car starts perfect and runs smooth. But when we shut the car off the key will only go to 'ACC'. When we disconnect the battery, we are able to turn the key to 'LOCK' and the key can be removed.

We have the master key, but NOT the wireless one.

Can anyone tell me why? What needs to be fixed??

Thanks!!!!

Strange, I have never heard of that issue before. I have you tried moving the steering wheel back and forth a little bit? Sounds like the lock is sticking or something?

I figured out how to get the key out without disconnecting the battery -

When I put the car into park, you cannot see the red line next to the 'P' - I have to push on the gear shift until I see the red line - then I am able to get the key out.

Do you know what could be causing this problem?? Any info would be appreciated....

THANKS!
