TNBailAgent
I just recently purchased a 1993 Lexus ES300 from my brother-in-law. It has a factory CD changer in the trunk. The power works on the factory stereo, however I have no sound unless you turn the volume up completely, then you can barely hear it. I have a few questions. First, why would this be happening? Maybe a malfunction from the factory amp under the front seat? If not, what could be causing this? Secondly, if I decide to replace the factory unit and install an aftermarket one, will it be able to control the cd changer? Lastly, how much trouble is it to take the old unit out and replace it. I have seen instructions on how to do this, but I am a little worried about the whole screwdriver in the vents thing. I have replaced numerous car stereo units, so I'm not new to the wiring, etc. Just new to the Lexus. ;) Thanks ahead of time for possible answers to my questions.
