sakr4360
I have a 1999 ES300 (camry). An irritating configuration of the engine controls is present. When cold, the trans won't shift out of second or third until high rpm is present. 3000-4000 rpm. Understandably it was designed in to get the cats heated. I don't like spinning a cold engine that fast especially in my climate that can be as cold as 15 below F. Letting the car sit and warm up to over 143 degrees F (the threshold to permit normal shifting) takes up to 25 minutes to attain the temp. A time and fuel waste! The alternative is to start it and drive at 15- 20 mph to keep the revs down until warmed. What can be done to jump a sensor etc., to permit this thing to shift normally.
