aparupal
Mine is a 1999 Lexus ES300 with 159K miles on it. Today I had done an scheduled oil change after 3K miles and I started going out in the evening. I have a remote starter in my car that is not peroperly installed. So, the remote starter works some times and doesn't work most of the times. When I approached the car to drive out, I tried a couple of times to start the car with the remote starter. It wasn't able to start the car and started giving some annoying noice from the engine. So I entered the car and started the car with key in the ignition. I observed the sound was still there so I turned the engine off but the sound didn't gone away. I drove for three miles and I stopped in a secure place and called 911 as I saw smoke coming from engine area. The smoke smells like an electric cable burn and Police suggested me to try starting the car but seems like the battery was dead and they advised me to tow the car to a mechanic. I dropped it at a Firestone and crossing my fingers that its just a battery failure. Earlier in the day, when I went for the oil change, the guy said the battery is perfect but some thing wrong that resisting the car to start quickly. Can anyone throw any ideas please? kingjack133
First i would have that faulty remote starter issue resolved and if it is not.....have a fire extinguisher handy. Sounds to me like an electrical issue other than the battery.
