lexuskingrat1 Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Good to get Lexus on the track again with the Speed Series King RAT Motorsports Debuts Lexus IS300 in World Challenge. [bERRYVILLE, VA -- May 21, 2008] King RAT is pleased to announce the entry of its #62 K1 Racing Gear Lexus IS300 in the SCCA Speed World Challenge Touring Car series. The car, driven by 2004 Miata Cup Champion Payton Wilson, will make its debut at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT. this Memorial Day weekend. "We aren’t complete strangers to this series,” said team principle Alex Ratcliffe. “In 2007, we provided support to Payton and the Dodge SRT-4 as well as limited support to Rookie of the Year Stan Wilson.” Ratcliffe continued: "But this is the first World Challenge entry we have built, which ratchets up the adrenaline factor. We are working with a very small budget, and King RAT is known for doing a lot with little. I’m excited to be a new manufacturer running in this series. It would be great to see more smaller teams in the Touring Car and SCCA Pro networks. "We only had time for a short shake down so at this stage we are a work in progress," added driver Payton Wilson. "But we have to start somewhere, and there is not better way to gauge the performance than to show up and race." The King RAT IS300 was converted from an Enduro Spec car to comply with the Touring Car rulebook. The car features a new, 3-Liter Spec motor, built entirely in-house at King RAT.
