so i bought a new deck... i unplugged the battery and pulled out the stock one.. turns out best buy sold me the wrong dash kit so i put everything back together (stock) and it worked fine.. next day i went to pull out the stock deck again and forgot to unplug the battery and after pulling out the stock one, i plugged in the new one and there was no power to it.. plugged the stock one back in and still no power to that.. tested the plug with a meter and theres no power coming through the plug.. checked the fuses and there good.... what now?? is there some sort of security issue when i unplugged the deck without unplugging the battery first?? please help!

I am experiencing this exact same issue. I have a 1992 ES300 with an aftermarket Alpine/JL sound-system. Everything worked just fine for about a year, and then the battery was disconnected and the car sat in the garage for about another year. When a new battery was installed and connected, everything works just fine...but the stereo system does not power on. Fuses, et al, are good. I'm hoping someone can shed some insight on this problem.

Also, not sure if it's related, but the 'Air Bag' light on the dash is now lit. This is something else that wasn't happening before the battery disconnect.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
