detaildoc Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I have an 07 ES 350 that I bought back in June of this year and it has 5,000 miles. About 1 month ago I noticed a noise that was not there before. It is coming from the back seat area when I am driving on the street, but it comes and goes. It seems to be coming from either the back seat itself, or from the rear window shade (weather up or down). It sounds like a vibrating noise as if something is rubbing against another part of the vehicle and shaking. Has anyone else had this experience? Any idea on what it might be?
sdloeffler Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I have the same noise. I think it's coming from the shade. It is annoying, but I've been dealing with other issues so I haven't brought that one up yet. If you find a resolution please post it. Thanks.
ES350tl Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Check your muffler on the left rear. Outside the muffler is a thin piece of sheet metal that is there to protect you from burns. But if that metal is pushed in slightly, it will start to vibrate on the muffler. Simply bend it back away so it does not touch the muffler.
detaildoc Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 Thanks for your replies. I will check out both the shade and the muffler.
detaildoc Posted November 16, 2007 Author Posted November 16, 2007 I have the same noise. I think it's coming from the shade. It is annoying, but I've been dealing with other issues so I haven't brought that one up yet. If you find a resolution please post it. Thanks. I took my car to the dealer today and they took care of the noise. The shade was one of the culprits, but there was also a loose screw in the XM antenna/system that was also causing a rattle. They took apart the entire panel in the back and seat, tighten every screw in there, and added additional insulation. Now, there is no more noise, it is extremely quite and I love it.
