TVJR
My 1993 es 300 is leaking power steering fluid, as a seal in the Rack and Pinion unit has gone bad. I need to replace the unit, but while searching online, the price ranges from $200-$400 depending on the core charge. But I'm a little confused because I've also seen the unit called a steering rack. Is a rack and pinion unit and steering rack the same thing? I appreciate the help. Thanks.

I did the one on my ES250 and alltogether, about $1150 P&L. the rack is what you need. from toyota, the part will be EXPENSIVE...around $900 for my 1990 ES250 i had many moons ago... Thanks, that's good to know. My 93 has 140k miles on it, so at this point I'm going to buy a remanufactured one and have my mechanic install it. It's self contained, and would be more expensive to try to replace only one or the other. Your rack and pinion assembly is probably the problem. Hayne's repair manual refers to it as the "steering gear," so in general all these terms are interchangable.
