Now I See What You're All So Excited About

Recommended Posts

I've been reading this forum for a few weeks as I have been researching cars, and you nice folks and your comments were part of my decision making process. Compared with the owners club forums for other makes, this forum is really short on complaints about problems with the cars. That, and the consumer reports data, were what led me to decide to take the plunge.

I just took possession of my 2000 ES 300 with only 43,500 miles on it yesterday, and on the ride home from the dealership, i "got" it. I see what you're all talking about. It's comfortable, quiet, quick, and so smooth it's hard to tell when the engine is running. But the part that made it so great was knowing two things: I got it for a much better price than I could have gotten a similarly plush german car AND it will last a lot longer than the german car would. Oh yeah, I was thinking about a BMW before I decided to go with the Lexus.

Anyway, thanks for all the information you guys post here, and for helping me make the right choice.

Also, I'm curious if you think I overpaid for it. The dealership was asking for $16k, and I got it for $14,400. It's not quite in "outstanding" condition (a small ripple in the driver door skin and a couple of bumper scuffs) but pretty close. I've never haggled with a dealer before, and I feel pretty good about the price I got, but am curious what you all think.
