Obd2 Codes And Solutions

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am ne to the forum. I have a 2001 ES300 with 145,000 miles.

It has been great except for two trouble lights that keep coming on.

They are Check Engine and Trac Off

When I use an OBD scan tool from Murray's, it says P0446 Evap Circuit Vent Malfunction

I can reset the codes and they will stay off for several weeks. I notice they come on when the tank is low and/or the temperature changes a bit.

Today I was going to reset them but the OBD said P0115 which was engine coolant temperature circuit malfunction.

Since I was having some very recent problems with low idle speed on cold start, I suspect this is telling the ECM that the coolant temperature is already hot and not to enrich the mixture.

I also realize this can be caused by the plugged throttle body air control valve.

My question is how do I find out what component to replace? Is the some temperature sensor somewhere that has failed.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
