lexus082
My solenoid wasn't unlocking the fuel door and the little metal rod would not retract unless you used the manual lever to open the fuel door. Then once I was done filling up on gas I would have to reach into the trunk and push the metal rod back through to lock the fuel door. Anyway, I knew the solenoid was still good so I thought I would take it out and see if I could possibly fix it. Sure enough after moving that metal rod back and forth a few times it started becoming loose from the solenoid housing and moved freely. Then I applied liquid graphite to the metal rod and it worked like new. Now I can unlock the fuel door by pulling up on the electronic lever by the front seat. I guess it was just dirty and the metal rod was seized up which required alot of force to move it back and forth. Saved over $200 for a new one so I am happy? Very easy fix.
