Re-programming The Navigation System

Hi folks

I bought a 2002 LS430 Ultra from Nebraska and I shipped it overseas to the United Arab Emirates. I wanted to reprogram the navidation system to show the map of that country, I contacted the dealership there and they said that they can not so that!!! They said it is a programming issue but I dont think so, I believe it is more or less a marketing issue !! What do you think?!

I wanted to know if any of you has a similar experience and if you know how I can reprogram the car's navigation system. Thanks in advance :)

They are correct... If im not mistaken, no maps were made for the '02 system for the UAE. Not entirely sure, however, if its like saudi, the navi was introduced in '04, with the new navi unit. Unless you try to retro fit the new navi system, im not sure where you can find maps for the older system.

But I did not get what you meant by "try to retro fit the new navi system". can you please explain more?

Hi Omar; I'm facing the same problem ....I think we must update the ROM version of the Navigation system....done by removing the whole unite and flash the ROM which is attached to the back of the screen ....actully they did the same thing for my car and Its in Km not Miles and tept.in C not F by flahing the odometer ROM from behind in a private carage in Sharjah/UAE.... They couldent do the same for Navigation Syst coz its need special conectors!!!! and the Gulf ROM software.
