A Sad Day, An Anniversary To Be Remembered

2 years ago today, 2 of my best friends were killed in Iraq. Their vehcile hit an IED that killed 3/4 occupants. I heard a sad song today by Tray Lawrence that REALLY hit home.

We went out for beers and a couple laughs,

Knowin' full well that every last joke that Jimmy told,

might be his last.

So we laughed like the world wasnt at war,

said things to him we never said before,

an' he teared up,as he held up his glass.

He said "boys...if I dont make it back..."

"Have a beer for me,

dont waste no tears on me

on friday night sit on the visitors side

and cheer for the home team

Drive my camaro,

90 miles an hour down red rock road,

with born to run blastin on the radio,

and find someone good enough for Amy

who'll love her like I would have

If I dont make it back.

We said "hey man that aint gonna happen

dont even think like that

if we know you, you'll pull through without a scratch."

He pulled me aside in the parkin lot

He said "Amy and me, we're gonna tie the knot,

your my best man, just wanted you to know that

Just in case, I dont make it back"

Have a beer for me,

dont waste no tears on me

on friday night sit on the visitors side

and cheer for the home team

Drive my camaro,

90 miles an hour down red rock road,

with "born to run" blastin on the radio,

and find someone good enough for Amy

who'll love her like I would have

If I dont make it back.

If the good lord calls me home,

i would like my friends will think about me when im gone...

well Miller Lite aint my brand,

but I drink one every now and then,

in his honor.

and we aint missed a home game yet,

I had that camaro at a hudered & ten on red rock road

when the speakers blowed...

and I introduced Amy to a friend of mine from Monroe,

hes a good ol' boy...but you know...

she just aint ready.

This song hits home, because i heard my friends Brian and Jake say that stuff right before they left. Now, i hear myself saying the sae things to my friends. and it kills me to know i may not come home, but, If the time comes, i will give my life freely for my country, no questions asked. I have been prepairing my family, my girlfriend, and especially by 18 year old brother. he is takin it really hard.

If anyone wants to know how hard it really is for us, PM me, ill be happy to tell you.

Here's to Brian, Jake, all the soldiers who gave their lives, to all my fellow soldiers their now, and to the ones who will be going:

Fight hard, Make it home safe, remember your training and never leave a fallen soldier. You are backed by the best team in the world.

Climb To Glory...Hooah.
