Guest
(98 LS400 172k) This morning [cold but in my garage], for the first time, the engine would not turn over despite several attempts. Never has taken more than one turn of the key. Watied a few hours, same problem initially. After the second failed attempt, decided to try one more time while flooring the gas pedal--in case it was flooded--but I really doubt it could have been with jsut two turns of the key. That worked but it started hard with white smoke out the tailpipe and it chugged for a moment then ran just fine. Started and killed it a few more times with no recurrence of the problem. Waited a couple more hours and again, no starting problem. Does this sound like a fuel filter problem? I have no idea if the filter has ever been changed. I did buy gas at a different station than normal 30 miles before this happened.
