This is my first time here on this forum...Just bought 1991 ls400 1250 dollars...ohhh about 200k miles yea sort of a steal i've had to replace the alternator. Still runs low on power steering and most recently gives trac off with check engine light on. Never one with out the other. Any suggestions?

your power steering pump is leaking probably from your air control valve. the fluid leaks down onto your alternator and fries it. there is a pic in the gallery that shows a cover that you can make for your alt. to protect it. the trac and engine lights are probably your oxygen sensors but to make sure get the codes read.

I saw that pic awhile back ... can you ever envision a situation in which that plastic would melt? there's a lot of heat under the hood at times, especially in sunny climes.
