Hello All,

I have a 2015 RX350 and the Information Unit went "black." No display for radio, backup camera, climate, navigation and etc. I found a YouTube video from Viktor_G_Automotive consultant where he went thru a fairly easy process of removing the old unit and replacing it. My question is if I buy a salvaged unit on LKQ Online and use it as a replacement, do I need to go to Lexus Service to re-program it or "burn" in the new VIN #? The video author claims you do NOT have to do this, i.e. unplug the old unit and replace, plug it in. This seems too simplistic? How does the new Info unit recognize the "new" vehicle's information? Am I missing something here? Please keep in mind, I am going to Lexus to get an official diagnosis, but the Lexus service sales staff sez it is most likely a dead unit. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
