Well, our 92 LS400 starter finally began to croak so it is time to replace. My son and I started teardown the other day. It is indeed the "bear" you have heard tell of. We got the plenum off and intake manifold just to reveal the starter motor. It is like staring at the edge of a cliff that you have just spent all day getting to.
