  1. Looking into buying a CPO 2019 RX350 and want to see what everyone's thoughts are on adding the CPO Wrap, aka 2 more years after the CPO warranty expires bumper to bumper? Is it worth it? All the evidence points to the fact that these are quite reliable vehicles and would be wasting 2K on the extra warranty....Any thoughts on this? Any experience with these warranties?
  2. I am considering purchasing a 2009 RX 350. But it has the traditional front end issue of pulling to the right. I’ve read all I can about this inherent problem, but I love that particular model year. It’s been suggested to take it to a experienced mechanic who has dealt with race cars because they often can adjust more precisely than the manufacturers Specs. Would love any opinions and advice.
  3. Retiring at 68 and thinking of selling my Honda Odyssey and getting a true Luxury car; a Lexius. Zeroing in on an older ES 350 or RX. Maybe even a Hybrid one. So, I ask you experienced Lexus owners, is this a bad Idea for a single woman who can’t fix her own car? And the closest Lexus shop is 2 hours away? I’d like to keep the price around 25,000 or less. Thank you for any insights, advice, etc Pam
  4. Does anyone know if the Lexus 2016 RX350 non sport fit the Sport (F) grill. I just want to change the mesh grill not the whole bumper. If anyone has experience let me know where should I buy and how much it will cost. Also can this fit without any customization?
  5. Hello, I have bought a new 2016 RX350 and the vehicle was driven 30k. When i took my car for servicing, the dealer has mentioned "BG fuel and oil additive" and "replace gear oil within rear differential and transfer case" which the dealer said was recommended by Lexus. Is it really necessary to perform these services? How does it affect my vehicle? If these options needs to performed then can i delay for another 5 or 10k? And if i have to opt in for these services then can you please suggest any mechanic outside of Lexus dealer as the dealer costs are 283 for parts and 478 for labor. These prices includes other services which i have not mentioned here. When i opted out of these two, the price was reduced by over $300. Any information shared is greatly appreciated.
  6. I have a 2015 RX350 F Sport (This is our second RX we bought from the same dealer, no issues with the first RX) we bought with 19K miles on it. Great car with no issues except for this vibration issue that showed up around 30K. Noticed a slight vibration in the rear like a tire out of balance so when we went for 30K service I had them check tire balance. What they found after trying to balance one of the tire was a small amount of water inside the tire. (Note: I had fixed a leak in that tire and had added air from my compressor so we assumed it came from my compressor) No problems until about 34K noticed a vibration on the front end like a tire out of balance. I had not done anything to any of the tires (no air added). So we went for our 35K service. They checked my vibration issue and after numerous attempts to balance they broke down all four tires and found small amount of water in each tire. With one tire having more than the others causing my issue. Couple of their mechanics said they have seen this happen a few times before on the RX but I have searched around on google and not finding any posts about an issue like this. Back when I was young in the 70's I worked on cars for a living, never in my life saw a tire make water internally on its on no matter the condition. Water in tires has happened but usually we were able to determine which service center had water in their air. Service guy told me this is not covered under warranty, not sure I agree since we have only put air in the one tire since we have owned it, they have done all the work on the car. I think they must have a moisture issue in their air system. I asked if they had nitrogen but they do not. So, I think I will have them filled with nitrogen and hopefully eliminate future problems. I wanted to ask you guys on the forum if anyone ever had this problem or heard about this type of problem. Any past experience or comments you may have would be appreciated Thanks in advance
  7. My guess would be either the first gen rx300 or the most recent gen rx350 because they have the most ground clearance. Not sure how they all compare with locking diffs, gearing, wheel articulation, low end torque, etc since I only own the first gen. Second question: is the RX a lot worse off road than the LX and GX or are they close?
  8. Hi, I am new to the forum and have a question on my 2009 RX350: Can I use a weight distribution hitch on this vehicle to pull a 2000 lbs (dry weight) camper trailer from southern Ontario to the Rockies and back? Or would the torsion from this type of hitch bend the frame or snap the bolts? The purpose of the slightly stronger weight distrib hitch (4000 lbs vs 3500 for my existing hitch) would be to level the Lexus, reduce trailer bounce on bumps, and reduce trailer sway. Has anyone used a weight distribution hitch on their 2009 or older RX without problems? The available Curt #13530 weight distrib hitch (rated to tow up to 4000 lbs with weight distribution) is explicitly stated by Curt to fit the 2009 RX350 (among other models and years), but I can't find a statement anywhere that it can be used as a weight distribution hitch on the 2009 or older RX350 instead of just as a regular hitch. My situation is this: - The trailer GVWR is 3500 lbs (unloaded weight is only 2000 lbs). - The trailer's dry tongue weight (hitch weight) is about 220 lbs. - The current hitch receiver installed on the vehicle is a factory model typically installed by a Lexus or Toyota dealer. - The installed factory hitch as far as I know is NOT rated for use with weight distribution bars (torsion bars). The sticker on the hitch only mentions the regular towing limit of 3500 pounds and does not mention a weight distribution towing limit. - A local hitch installation expert believes the frame of the RX350 probably was not designed to accommodate a weight distribution hitch until 2010. Our RX350 is a 2009. The local expert, who looked at our existing hitch on a hoist, believes we won't gain enough by replacing the hitch. - The vehicle as it is now is rated to tow 3500 lbs with the factory tow package which I have, and rated for a max tongue weight of 350 lbs. - But the trailer currently does sway and bounce some when we tow it. And the Lexus sags several inches in the back. I know the sway can be corrected by an antisway bar and probably be improved by raising the ball mount on the vehicle, which is currently about 2 inches too low for the trailer. - The after-market Curt #13530 weight distrib hitch mentioned above (rated to tow up to 4000 lbs with weight distribution) is attached to the frame by 6 bolts rather than the 4 bolts that I think are used for the current factory hitch. The threads on the frame are cage nuts (captured nuts or maybe they are welded on, not sure) So to sum up, I would like to know: - Can a weight distribution hitch be used on the 2009 RX350 without bending the frame or breaking the bolts holding the hitch to the frame - Does the fact that Curt designates its weight distribution hitch as fitting my vehicle mean that it is intended to be used as a weight distribution hitch on my vehicle, or just as a regular hitch? - For a trailer that may weigh 2,800 lbs loaded, is it overkill to replace my perfectly functional non-weight distribution hitch with a weight distribution hitch that adds 500 lbs of towing capacity and 50 lbs of tongue weight capacity. The cost of the new Curt hitch would be about $ 240 Canadian to me, plus maybe $30 for a torque wrench to install the hitch myself. Thank you in advance for some expert advice on these questions.
  9. Does any one know what on earth this button is for?
  10. Hi everyone, my car is RX 350 2013, it has some dents and scratches that I would like to fix them. Should I go for dealer or should I go around to shop for the price at the local body shop ? Normally how much to repaint the car? Thanks all :)
  11. I have (4) Like-New 18" Lexus OEM 74253 factory alloy-wheels, along with (4) Top-Rated & Barely-Used Michelin 235/60R18 Latitude X-Ice Xi2 Snow Tires. And YES, having grown up in Buffalo, NY, along with our living in the snow-belt of NE Ohio for10+ years now, these snow tires are simply incredible, completely transforming the vehicle into a Fun-To-Drive (in the snow) attacking machine. So if you enjoy driving in the snow like I do, you'll actually look forward to snow........ Additionally, these tires ride & handle very well, while also being very quiet, & super long lasting, based upon my previous experience with another set of them on a Honda Odyssey. And yes, I got 8+ years out of that set. And seeing how you need tires anyway, having a dedicated set of snow-tires has always made perfect sense to me, along with your greatly enhanced Safety & Peace of Mind. Reason for selling: Shortly after we purchased this very expensive set of tires & wheels (which retail for > $3,000), we purchased a winter home in extreme southern Texas. And seeing how we plan to sell our home here, we no longer have a need for them. Asking $1350. If interested, please call Dan @ 440-254-6504. And if you'd like to see some photo's, this item is posted on Craigslist, or I can email them to you. Thank you.
  12. I bought used 2012 RX350. I'm experiencing vibration problems when I braking/slow down at a high rate of speed such as on the highway; this is normal braking not emergency braking. Majority of the time I feel the brake pedal shaking and vibration from the steering wheel. The car does not pull to the left or the right. I took my car to the Lexus dealership to have it checked out and they said nothing was wrong. But I've never felt or experienced anything like this on any other cars I've owned. Has anyone else experienced this issue with their brakes?
  13. Hello all, A new RX350 driver here! Loving my lexus so far. Question on how to update the navigation maps on the car. I understand that from 2010 onwards lexus introduced hard drive based navigation system (generation 6, i believe). How do i update these maps? I know i can just take it to the dealer, but I am looking to save a couple of hundred bucks here. Has anyone done an update on the maps themselves? Where do we buy the upgrade dvd/usb? What do you recommend? Thanks!
  14. So my wife started complaining about a damp smell in her car. In checking it out I discovered that it was all wet under the driver's seat. Took it to our Lexus dealer and they said the station tubes that drain the sunroof were blocked and water was backing up into the car. And that there was mold all in the interior of the car and it would have to be removed and replaced. Thankfully our auto insurance policy covered it, who knew? Not sure this is a common problem or not but the service department asked where we get the car serviced? Our Lexus dealer is 100 miles away and there is a Toyota dealer about 6 miles away who advertises they service Lexus cars. The Lexus dealer claimed that this was the problem because when Lexus services their cars they know to clean out these tubes. I had never heard of these tubes blocking and God knows how many autos have sunroofs. Just sharing! And the repair was over $8,000!

  16. Hi Guys, This is my first post in this awesome forum. #excited Anyway, I purchased a certified pre-owned 2012 Lexus RX 350 and I have two annoying issues. One is a weird sort of mechanical noise that comes out as soon as I release the brake pedal after I press it (similar to the noise that I found in this video http://youtu.be/gHzeH1Y6CxA for a 2006 Toyota Prius from second 0:04 to 0:06 and this one also http://youtu.be/2722U1d4zq0 from second 0:03 to 0:04, 0:07 - 0:08, and 0:17 - 0:19). Could it be the actuator or booster? I let the dealer hear the noise and they said that it is actually the actuator and this noise is normal! The other issue is a cabin fan screeching/squeaking noise (A/C fan). I can hear this noise as soon as I turn it on (especially on low speeds and it doesn't matter if A/C is on or off). Should I be concerned? Thanks! Sam
  17. Help!!! My wife bought a 2014 Lexus RX 350 a few months ago from Watertown Lexus here in MA. A couple of weeks ago, we noticed paint peeling off the very top edge of the rear bumper cover (the black plastic part that is painted the color of the car). The dealer inspected the car carefully, and said that Lexus Corp would only pay to strip the paint off the plastic part and re-paint it. We're furious that first of all this could pass through quality control, but that Lexus would not replace the bumper cover. It can't be cheaper to strip the paint off than just replace the plastic, as far as man hours go. And we're scared that the paint just won't hold in the long run. Has anyone else had problem like this? We've never heard of this before on a brand new car, much less a Lexus. We thought they had very good quality. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  20. I need to replace my engine and cabin filters and can't locate where and how to do so. I'm hoping that someone can post clear diagrams / video / instructions so I can do this job myself. I was told by tech that it (intake) was checked and I didn't need to change it but I have 17 K miles on these filters and want to be sure. Recently when having tires R&B the clerk showed me the engine filter location and said it would take 30 mins. because of the electronics hooked up. Sorry, I don't believe everything I'm told and need the truth from an outsider. Looking forward to some expertise advise on my 2009 RX350. Thanks,
  21. My CEL & VSC came on & I determined it wasn't an issue with the gas cap. Went to AutoZone & diagnostic threw 7 codes. Need to replace all 6 spark plugs & 1 ignition coil. I've only had this car since July, so I haven't gotten my hands dirty with it yet or even looked under the hood for that matter. Too busy to be crazy into my cars now. Anyway, my question is will I be able to change all the spark plugs myself, or will I need to take out the intake to get to some of them? Also, will I be able to easily replace the ignition coil myself? Thanks!
  22. Hi! I am having a problem with my 2007 RX350 from yesterday. I have only one key and one after market remote starter. When I try to start the car with the key, the car's security alarm/ panic alarm goes on and it does not start. The key still closes and opens the doors. On the other hand, I can still start the car with my after market remote starter, and after that when I put key into ignition, and turn in into on position, the car starts panicing again but I can still drive it with panic alarm. I talked with lexus roadside assistance guys, their suggestions are working. Can anyone please help? Thanks in advance!
  23. I have a 2008 Lexus RX350. I took it to the dealer last week and they told me about leaking rear main seal. My vehicle is just running 73K miles. I have not seen this kind of issue with my other new vehicles like Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. The dealer estimate the cost of repair would be $1640. I live in a moderate climate and there is no big fluctuation in temperatures. I am not sure if it is a poor quality design by Lexus or inferior part. I was told that they have to dismount the transmission to change the seal. I request any advice and experience from other owners. Also I like to know if I can postpone the repair and top the oil frequently to maintain the level...any impact to transmission if left unrepaired..

  25. Hello, I have a 2009 Lexus RX350 without nav. I am interested in installing a nav other than my portable garmin nuvi. Would appreciate any advice on oem vs third party navigation systems. Also, please let me know if it is possible to install a 2012/2013 oem nav, or if it has to be a 2009 model year nav. I am interested in getting things such as bluetooth, streaming audio, etc. Please also advise me on costs. Thanks so much.
