  1. So, for the 4th time now, the Navigation system has "dumped"my contacts from the address book. Once, twice, ok maybe human error but not four times. Has anyone had this happen? Do you see a pattern? Is it tied into service? Would love to hear. Thanks.
  2. Just bought our first Lexus and so far, we're thrilled with the car. Long story made short, The car was originally purchased and owned in California and we recently had it shipped to Hawaii. To our dismay, the navigation system (Generation 4, or so I've been told) does not include maps for Hawaii and my dealership has informed me there is no mapping available for my vehicle with the current navigation system installed in the car. I can't imagine I'm the first one with this case and would like to had a functional system in my car. Can I just buy an upgraded DVD for the system, or do I need to upgrade the whole thing? What steps do I have to take and what equipment do I need to purchase to have this system work on the islands? We live on Oahu if that helps at all. Thanks in advance.
  3. I recently purchased a 2001 RX300 for my daughter and the navigation system has not been updated since it left the factory. I am know there are at least 7 updates. Do you have to update sequentially, that is, version 1 then 2 then 3 all the way up to the latest update?
  4. On 6-8-12, I had the 20K service at my maintaining dealer for my 2010 ES350. I asked for the latest map upgrade. I was charged $169.00 for Part Number PT219-HDDG6-11 which is the Gen6 11.1 version of the North America map. I just took it back for the 25K service, and pointed out to the new service writer that my map data showed that I have 10.1 He said that he checked with someone in the Service Department, and they said I had the correct one. Now, I know that's baloney. I have been ripped off. They did give me an empty thumb drive w/ Lexus logo at the time of the supposed upgrade. Does Lexus have Area Managers where I can complain. My previous service writer (who I used for 7 years) was the Asst Service Manager, and we were always able to workout any problems. But, he was always straight with me. When I had Oldsmobiles, I got to know the Area Manager personally. Does Lexus have these? How do I find the one for Chattanooga? Thanks for any help! Charlie
  5. I have a 2004 GS430 (2nd generation) fitted, as is usual, with the Generation 01 satnav system - the one that starts up with this screen: and which "features" (sic) the Motion Lock on the satnav (where I can't set/change destination and much else while the car is moving) drives me nuts. Lexus is not my Mother. I know. I tried all the cheats I could find online, tapping various parts of the screen in sequence. One did get me to an information/diagnostics screen, but there was definitely no override capability there I also tried cutting one of the wires into the centre console (forget which, now) as per forum suggestions, but that too made no difference so I spliced it back. I then gave up. Now, years later, I've checked to see what's available, and found this: This "Beatsonic nt0202" looks suspiciously like a button switch which simply cuts one of the wires in the loom at the back of the centre console. If so, it is unlikely to fix the motion lock. Is it likely to work on my GS?
  6. Hello, I have a 2009 Lexus RX350 without nav. I am interested in installing a nav other than my portable garmin nuvi. Would appreciate any advice on oem vs third party navigation systems. Also, please let me know if it is possible to install a 2012/2013 oem nav, or if it has to be a 2009 model year nav. I am interested in getting things such as bluetooth, streaming audio, etc. Please also advise me on costs. Thanks so much.
  7. i have a 2006 GS350. it is my seecond one, the first car would give me turn by turn direction in destination mode. this one is not doing that. is this something the dealer can reset.
  8. I recently installed latest nav update in my '07 es350. I had the bypass to override the lock out but it won't work in the latest generation. Anyone have the new method to access the sevice menu?
  9. Dear All, Has anyone created a custom navigation disk, with your own maps on it? GX470 is not officially sold in my location - so, the OEM navigation shows my location as if I were in the middle of the ocean. I have .nm2 maps (originally for Navitel) of my location and am wondering if I can somehow upload them to the truck's navigation system. If you have any experience or suggestions, please share your thoughts. Thank you, Eugene
  10. I have a 2008 IS 350 with the original navigation software. I was wondering if anyone has a current disk or a copy of a current disk so I can update my navigation. Please feel free to PM me.
  11. Can anyone tell me if the current version of the navigation update has the most recent update for the Beltway 8 Highway Revisions in NE Houston? These revisions were complete in February 2011, but I dont know if they made the update that came out in the Fall of 2011. I live in the NE Houston area and route guidance is way off due to the navigation not being aware that this section of highway has been complete. It calculates it as a side road (35 mph) instead of a highway (75 mph). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  12. Hello all. I am new to this forum and though this is my third lexus, I have just moved into the LS territory for the first time. My 2005 LS430 is practically flawless aside from the blank navigation screen. Now what seems odd to me is that the monitor works just fine when I hit audio, options, and climate. But when i push the menu, navi, or destination, the screen remains back lit and blank. I would appreciate any advice/info anyone has to give. Thank you, and I look forward to enjoying and participating in this forum with you all. Good day gentlemen...... and ladies.
  13. I have moved to Brandon, Manitoba, Canada from St. Paul, MN. The Navigation system in my ES350 allows for adjusting the "Driving Speeds" in the Navigation setup. There are 3 settings: Residential (max 25 MPH/40 KPH), Main Streets (max 55 MPH/90 KPH) and Freeways (max 80 MPH/128 KPH), Unfortunately in Canada most all the main highways are classified as "Main Streets" in the Lexus Navigation system, with a maximum setting of 55 MPH or 90 Kilometers per hour (KPH). In Canada the maximum speed on these highways is between 62-68 MPH or 100-110 KPH. Because the Navigation uses 55 MPH for the ETA and driving time calculations, they are always incorrect. The Residential calculations are also incorrect because in Canada, Residential speed limits are 31-37 MPH or 50-60 KPH and the maximum setting is 25 MPH or 40 KPH The Freeway maximum speeds are not a problem. Is there any way to modify the Navigation system to work with Canadian highway speed limits? Can I Canadian'ise the Navigation system?
