  1. Well, that seemed to do the trick. The headlights behaved themselves on the way to work with no flashing light! :) Now just to get that darned climate control back under control.. Thanks for the help! Craig
  2. Hi cduluk, thanks for the reply. Over the past couple of days I have observed that the AFS fault would occur when the lights tried to yaw to the right. So FINALLY this evening I was able to get back in there. When I manually tried to move the gimbal, it would move to the left, but was getting stuck to the right. So I applied a bit more pressure and heard the distinctive sound of glass being ground up. I moved the gimbal back and forth about twenty times until it sounded like it was all clear. I also took your advice and double checked the connections, which seemed to be solid. Tomorrows drive into work will be the true test. I'll report back. Thanks again!
  3. Hey guys, Now that it has turned cold, I have noticed a heater issue with my 07 ES350. I typically have the controls set to auto @ 72 degrees. When the car is cold, the motor stays off until the car gets up to temp. After a min or two, the fan starts to ramp up and warm air comes out. After another couple of minutes though, the air starts to turn cold. Not freezing cold, but def not warm. This of course makes the fan go faster, b/c it feels the interiour cooling off and is trying to help.. If I wait it out, usually about another 3-4 minutes or so, I can feel the heat start to return. I have read some posts about a heater control servo under the glove box. Does this apply to this car as well? Has anyone serviced this part before? I had read that it can be removed and cleaned which might buy it some more time. Thanks!
  4. Thanks for the reply. I have not gotten under the hood yet to check the plugs due to an unexpected plumbing issue in my house. Lets just say that 10 years worth of grease/food in a 20 foot pipe make for a very messy afternoon. Back to the lights... Yes, they both do the dance at startup. I can see this in the garage every morning when I start the car. Over the past couple of days, the AFS light has been intermittent. It will work for a couple of minutes (I can see both lights turning when I drive), then the light will start flashing. I have been turning on the headlights during the day as well to see if there is a pattern to the failure. There have been a couple of trips where the AFS light stayed off all together, so the system does want to work. I will check the connectors in the next day or so. Another theory I need to run down is the possibility that some debris could have made its way down into the motor assy? The only reason I think this is because when I pulled out the bad bulb, it had actually shattered, so I am curious if any glass might have found its way down there. Thanks again.
  5. Hi gang, I have an 07 ES350 with about 88k miles on it. I had to swap out one of my HID lights because it burned out after only 1 year...grrrr. At least I had one of the originals to put back in until I can order a new set. Anyway.. the bulb is working fine, however on the way to work this morning, the AFS OFF light was flashing on the dash. It also appears that the lights didnt turn like they used to. I do recall seeing the lights perform their self-leveling check when I turned the car on. As I was putting the bulb in, the light did rotate in its housing, but nothing extreme, just a quarter inch or so as I was trying to put the spring lock back on. I have replaced these bulbs before and not had an issue. Any tips on what to check or how to diagnose? Thanks!
  6. hello,

I had the same vibration problem. Please let me know ASAP if the rotor change solved that, i am a little disappointed about that. 3309060974

  7. Just to be clear; When I said I was compiling a list, I meant these are things that I have noticed in the car and been keeping track of. I just re-read my original post and I don't want anyone to think I was just TSB shopping...
  8. Here is the list I gave them. I had printed out the first page of the TSBs, which the service rep more than willing to take, as he said it would help eliminate some research on the mechanics part. 1. Front A/C occasionally blows white dust out of the vents. 2. MP3 player, when powered from the vehicles 12V supply and plugged into the Aux input, is distorted due to feedback issue. 3. Front window makes a ticking noise. 4. Rear A/C sometimes blows hot air when blowing cold out of the front. 5. Rattling noise from the dash on rough pavement (esp now that its getting cold) 6. Odd shifting behavior from the tranny. (there were actually a couple different TSBs I supplied for this one, as I was not sure exactly which one fit my problem. Seemed to be a bit of both)
  9. Hey all, I have an 07 with 42k miles that I bought back in June. This car is just awesome. I love driving it to work everyday. Since then, I have been compiling a list of items that I want to get fixed before the warranty runs out. This board has been an excellent source of info for me. I just dropped the car off on Friday, and drove away in an 09 ES350 loaner. So far I have had a positive experience. Since I usually do all of my own maintenance, I am leery of giving up my car to someone. But, since it is warranty work, I couldn't pass that up. I think I had 8 issues (all known TSBs) for them to address. I'll let you know how it goes.
  10. I actually bought the car at 42k, so I cant comment on how the previous driver treated it. I just know that they were warped enough that they shook the wheel at any braking speed and that they actually effected the balance. I assume they have been bad for some time. I have replaced rotors on my Expedition that have lasted much longer that this car, and the Expedition is huge in comparison. I'll look into the Brembos! Is the Brembo blank the same as the Brembo OEM? Thanks!
  11. Hi all, I have an 07 ES350 w/ 43k miles. I just had to have the front rotors surfaced because they were warped pretty bad. I have read that many people have had issues with the brakes on this car and was looking for aftermarket options. On my other cars, I have used Bendix rotors and been very happy with them, but I dont see those offered for the Lex. Anyone have any firsthand suggestions of replacements? I hesitate to use factory since they seem so prone to early warpage. I am just planning ahead since I am assuming the ones on the car will warp again even sooner since they are now thinner and more prone to heat buildup. Thanks! Craig
  12. Morning guys, Do any of you know if there is a service manual for the DIY'er similar to the Haynes manuals for this car? Maybe its just too new. I like to do my own maintenance and having the specs and procedures handy is a plus :)
  13. Well, I took the car back to the tire shop to get the alignment done. I knew it was out of whack due to the wear pattern on the old tires. I told them of my continued vibration issue and asked them to also re-check the balance. When I got back, they said the alignment was out of spec, but the vibration problem was not wheel balance. He said the front rotors were warped (surprise!). They went ahead and turned them. He said it took two passes to get them smooth. I drove it into work this morning and it is definitely better. No steering wheel vibration. I am, however, still feeling it in the seat, which makes me think I should go ahead and pull the rear rotors and get them surfaced as well (I have read post about probs w/ the rear brakes on this car). May also transfer the rear tires to the front and see if the vibration moves. So, in short... warped rotors were causing my vibration! I'll post back about progress on the rear.
  14. Quicky question. Can anyone provide the torque spec for the wheel lugs? I cant seem to find it in the manual. I need to have it to remind the guys at the tire shop when they balance/rotate. Along w/ over-inflating, they seem to want to use an impact set at 5000ft/lbs when putting wheels back on. For each of my cars, I make a small laminated placard that has front/rear tire pressure along with torque specs. I set it in a conspicuous place when I drop it off so their is no confusion. Has worked pretty well so far. Thanks!
  15. I have them on both cars. I ordered them from http://www.qwikvalve.com. They were ~$22 a piece. The only drawback is that it does take a bit longer for the oil to drain since the opening is smaller. But open it first and work other minor maintenance items while its draining. I love it.
