  1. Hi all, I have a 1996 ES300 that has been acting strange since I got it. As soon as I hit 280 miles on a single tank of gas, the low fuel light comes on and the car seems to have trouble supplying gas to the engine. My manual tells me I have an 18.5 gallon (70 liter) tank and I know from filling up right at about 280 miles that I still have on average 4-5 gallons of gas left in the tank (My average gas mileage is about 18-20 MPG). So my question is, is the low fuel light turning on early or is it about right? What does it mean if the car has a noticeable issue getting gas (not just on hills) when it gets lower than about 5 gallons in the tank? I'm curious if it is maybe an issue with the fuel pump or hoses connecting the tank to the fuel injection system? Thanks for any advice that can be offered.
  2. About what would the cost of a new window motor be?
  3. Any other thoughts would be much appreciated...
  4. I am closing in on about 137000 miles. Looking at the manual, it describes the fuse as: No. 23 - Dome - 20 amp It claims to control the radio, cassette tape player, compact disc player, power antenna, interior lights, door courtesy light, ignition switch light, trunk light, electronic moon roof system, instrument panel light, door lock and theft deterrent system, locking with wireless remote control system. Although, when the fuse is out the only things that don't work are the interior lights and the door locks. I do have a multimeter but was hoping to avoid having to splice any wires... Hope this helps.
  5. I bought my ES300 from a dealer a few months ago as is. When I started driving it around regularly I noticed that after rolling the window down (anywhere past about halfway), when I go to roll it up again, it will only go up about half of the way. A few minutes later it will go up a little more, and so on until it is finally all the way up. It always goes down entirely without any issue, and no matter how long you wait after putting it down, it still takes several attempts to get it back up. My friend suggested that it could be a problem with the limit switch, thoughts? Also, Fuse #23 (20 amp) in the engine fuse box, blows out every couple of weeks, and I haven't been able to determine why. I looked in the manual to see that it controlled the interior lights, power locks, the dinging sound when the key is in the ignition, etc... and have tried isolating which it might be, but to no avail. The fuse shows no sign of being slowing burned through, so I have to assume something is just blowing it but I can't determine what it is. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
  6. I have some experience soldering, but non with heatshrink tubing. Any ideas what an install might cost, or who would do it? Just a regular mechanic, or someone more specialized?
  7. I have a 1996 ES300 and I was going to pick up a Viper 5701 Responder LE 2-Way Security and Remote Start System to install. I was curious if anyone has installed any remote starters or anything similar to this to a similar model car? If so, is it difficult for someone with very little knowledge of cars and is there any more specific instructions I could find for my car? thanks
