  1. OK, thanks. My dealership said they had been unable to replicate it.
  2. They had my car last year for just under 2 weeks. tex2670/Tepbro326/others- Are you guys saying that you were able to get your Lexus fixed without them having to do any "reproducing" of the problem? You just brought the car in, explained what was going on, and they fixed it? This is not what they told me when I was in over a year ago. If that's the case, I guess I'm going to need to make another appointment. I did just get another TIB about a wiper blade or something like that, so maybe it's a good time. Where are you located and what was the dealership you took your vehicles to? Thanks.
  3. I have a 2006 IS250 AWD and just got this bulletin as well. Unfortunately, I'm pretty ticked right now. First of all, I'm 99% certain that this issue has been affecting my car since I've had it, especially the running rough when coming to a stop part. Also, twice, I have taken it to Lexus because of the misfiring. I was accelerating after slowing down, and the engine basically started shuddering, and I couldn't accelerate, or get above about 25 MPH. The check engine light was on and a "Check CVS" message was displayed on the console. Pretty much exactly what's described in the bulletin. The first time, they found a diag code and cleaned the carbon from the engine. The 2nd time, about 2 weeks ago, it happened, so I pulled into a parking lot, shut the car off for a while, and when I started it again, everything was back to normal. Once at the dealership, they said they couldn't find a diag code, and sent me home with no repairs done, but no bill either. I'm not sure if they knew about this bulletin at the dealership at that point, but I described it pretty clearly. So I called the dealership today, and they tell me that several things need to happen for them to do these repairs. First, I need to show up at the dealership with the check engine light on. Or it had to have been on at some point, such that they find an applicable diagnostic code. Which they did do, but this was the first time, probably 2 years ago. They told me if they do find the code, they first have to do a drive test to duplicate the problem. And they ONLY if they duplicate it, they have to check the spark plugs, and if they're factory, THEN they do the repairs. If not factory, they replace them at the owners expense. I have no idea if my spark plugs are factory, but I'm guessing they are, I've had the car for almost 4 years and haven't replaced them. In any case, I'm pretty *BLEEP*ed off that they won't do the repairs unless I bring it in under these conditions, AND they can duplicate it while it's there. The chances of that happening are probably low. Did anyone else's dealership question them about this, and is there anything I can do about it? Thanks in advance.
  4. Car is black. The color under where the paint is flaking off is gray. There's the big almost circle shaped on, and a smaller, rectangular spot to the right of that.
  5. Thanks to both of you for your help. I guess I'll have to find some body shops and get estimates.
  6. So do I need to get it resprayed at my Lexus dealership, or are there other places to do it that will do a good job? Thanks for all the info.
  7. It was purchased used, in May of 2009. So you're saying it was repainted (poorly) before I bought it? Could a poor respray take that long to show up? I know it checked out as not being in an accident, but a parking lot sort of bumper ding obviously wouldn't register.
  8. The reason I'm posting this is because I'm not sure if my car was hit by something or not. It's a 2006 IS250, and it's the part just below and to the left of the front grill. I don't see any sign of anything scratching or hitting it, so I'm wondering if this is something that can happen to these bumpers? I tried to take a picture of it, but it's tough to see. The flash also seems to exaggerate the other dirt and tiny spots on the bumper. But the larger spot where the paint has flaked off, and the other smaller spot to the right of it should be obvious. And it does look like it's "flaking" off, it looks like it has the potential to keep flaking. Has anyone seen this before, and is there any way I can repair or paint over this myself? Thanks in advance.
  9. Thanks to both of you for your responses. That link from tirerack was interesting. I guess I'm hoping that being off for a month or two didn't do significant damage, but I'm still not sure who I'll know. I did have the rear differential serviced when I bought the car. The other interesting thing was that even at 2/32 difference, there is still stress. At this point, I probably have 1 tire that's off 2/32 from the other two, so maybe I should check if any a local places offer the tire shaving service.
  10. I apologize for the length of this in advance. I bought my IS250 used in May of 2009. At the time, the previous owner said the car had pretty new tires, which, when looking them over, looked to be true. Unfortunately, what I didn't notice was that the left front tire was a different brand than the other 3. So, after about 2 months, I noticed that the tire was wearing faster than the other ones(and that it was a different brand). So I had the left front tire replaced with the same brand and model as the other 3 tires. Then, last week, I hit a pothole and got a flat right front tire. When I was having it replaced, they(different place than the first time) told me about the tires on the AWD model needing to be within 3/32 of each other, to prevent problems(transmission and rear differential I think? don't remember specifically). So, my first concern is I don't remember anyone saying anything about this the first time last year I got the left front tire replaced. I'm guessing it's because they took a look at them and it was obvious it wouldn't be a problem, since the tires were so new? I doubt it was an issue, since everything last week was within 3/32(2/32, actually). My bigger concern is the fact that I was driving the car for a while with the bad/worn left front tire before I replaced it, and I'm pretty sure that tire was outside 3/32 of the other three. So my questions are, how much damage could I have done already? Is there anything I could do or check to see if I should have anything done to the car? Thanks in advance.
  11. I have a 2006 IS250 AWD. We've been getting some pretty cold weather here in MN, and one night I had to park outside overnight in -15 cold. When I started it up the next day, the low tire alert was on. I checked with a pressure gauge, and one of them was a little low, so I pumped it up. Since then, I've checked the tires several times, they all seem good, but the alert is still on. Is this something that has to be reset? If so, can I do it myself? Or is it indicitave of another problem? Thanks.
  12. If you have HID as stock then the bulb is D4S and no kit is required. The bulb will just plug in. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PHILIPS-D4S...1205|240%3A1318 If you want to get the bulb somewhere I can probably give you easy enough instructions for installing it. It's not hard to see how to do it, but you may scrape some knuckles as it's a pretty confined space to work in. Thanks much! As far as installing it, from what they were explaining to me, because the bulb was on the outside, it's pretty tough to get to(like you were saying) and they were talking about taking off part of the bumper or something. I'm not sure how comfortable I'll be with doing something too involved, but if you want to pass along instructions, I can evaluate from there, and maybe give it a shot. But that bulb will save me over $300 alone, so thanks again!
  13. Sorry to bump this thread up from so long ago, but this is what my search took me to. From the information I've gleaned from this thread and what I was told earlier today, my IS250 has HID bulbs for the low beams(my passenger side one is dead). Apparently, it's not standard unless you have the Navigation package, and mine has the Navigation(bought it used less than a month ago). Anyway, I'm not skilled enough and don't know enough to do this myself, so I took it to a Toyota dealership, and they're quoting me a price of $375 for the bulb(or is it actually a conversion kit, as people on this thread have eluded to?). They have no problem with my bringing in my own bulb, so my question is, can I find the replacement for this bulb(kit?) anywhere else for cheaper? They said they called around and everyone else that had it also wanted $375. My main problem is I don't know what to search/look for, it looks like the owner's manual has the info listed for the halogen/standard bulb. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!
  14. thank you both for your replies. I had called a Toyota dealership close to me(Rudy Luther Toyota), but I will check on the one in !Removed! Rapids, even though it's a little furthur away. Sounds like it might be worth it. Thanks again.
  15. I have the same question. I posted it in the IS250 forum, probably should have posted the thread here, so I'll just bump this one....
  16. Just bought a 2006 IS250, AWD. I am a first time Lexus owner, and was wondering if I could solicit this board on finding a trustworthy/certified place to get the vehicle serviced. I've read some stuff on here from people who seem to firmly believe that the best place to do so is at the dealership. I'm sure they're reliable and such, but for that amount of extra money, is there REALLY nowhere else that's a good option?? If there are any Minnesota members reading, I'm looking for something in the Minneapolis area, preferably in the Western Suburbs. Otherwise, I've been trying to search online, but have no real way of knowing if a shop is somewhere I should feel confident in. So any resources online for finding what I'm looking for would be great as well. Thanks for any help!
