  1. Some Toyota vehicles are being investigated for acceleration caused by floor mat interference with accelerator pedals, as well other possible causes. Although the Lexus RX series is not included, I believe, as part of driver training/licensing, that one should know what to do if such an event occurs while driving any vehicle. I believe the most expedient and safest reaction would be to disengage the drivetrain by shifting into neutral, and/or depressing the clutch on a manual transmission. Waiting until pulling over and stopping before shutting off the engine should enable the power steering/brakes to function as needed. My RX shift pattern allows for moving the shift lever from drive into neutral without being concerned about possible overmovement into reverse or park. Some shift patterns of older vehicles may require a more careful movement of the lever, but in an emergency a damaged tranny may well be better than a collision.

  2. I recently took my RX350 to the dealer for a free 5000 miles/6 month service which was to include oil/filter change and tire rotation. I had only 3000 miles on it, but the 6 months from delivery was up the next day. Upon arrival, I told the service advisor that I was here for the 6 month service. After looking up the vehicle on his computer he said they would check all the fluid levels, do the AC wiring recall mod, and provide a free car wash. I asked about the oil/filter change, etc, and was told I could wait to have it done when I'd put another 2000 miles on it. I said what about the warranty requirement, and he said they would change the oil/filter etc IF I WANTED. Well, I wanted to keep the warranty requirement as well as new oil so I told them to do it. Someone else might have said ok to wait until the odometer read the required miles...BUT, if they had a warranted problem it would be the owners word against the dealer's service advisor. This may be an isolated case, but be advised, especially if you have someone else take your vehicle for service.

  3. Hello all and let us start a new page with comments and questions about 2010 RX 350. I have been driving around one for the past three weeks and I do not have any words to describe how I feel about the car. My question is about the type of gas I supposed to use. Owner's manual says that I should use premium gas, but they did not say specifically the reason for their recommendation. So, if I use regular gas, do you think I will damage the Engine or fuel system? Or this would simply give me a lower millage? Everyone I spoke to expressed different opinions including Lexus people and mechanics, however everyone failed to backup their claim with facts or evidence. It is true that the book says and it is good for the car and it will give a better millage, however why cannot I use regular gas. Can anyone help? Ask me anything you want about this new SUV and I will be more than happy to share anything with you.

I now use regular grade gasoline . Averaging 22 mpg locally. I've not seen any difference in mileage or performance, and I occasionally let the horses out of the barn and run her up to 75; have never heard any pinging and I passed a recent hearing test with flying colors. Hope this helps.

  4. I just picked up my 2010 RX 350 from the dealer. They called me to tell me that the car came with 19 inch wheels instead of the 18 inch ones that come standard. Since I wanted the standard they offered to change them to the 18 inch ones.

But when I came home and looked at the tires the tires are Bridgestone tires. I had an RX 330 that came with Michelin tires and thought that the standard tires were Michelin. Is that a correct assumption or am I just being paranoid. The way I see it the Bridgestone tires are about $75 cheaper per tire. So I dont want them to charge me the same if they replace the tires with cheaper ones.

For the all those who have bought the 2010 can you tell what tire brand did yours come with ?

My 2010 RX 350 came with standard 18' tires of Bridgestone brand. I prefer the aspect ratio of the 18's for more cushion. All the vehicles with 18" wheels at my dealer had this brand tire. So far I like how the vehicle rides and handles with these shoes. Wh2

  5. You'll probably need to get a special filter removal tool. It's a little cup that attaches to your socket wrench. I just don't know the size for 2010 but our 2008 uses a 65/67mm that I bought at Walmart for around $3.50 while Lexus sell it for like 40. You can check out my car's DIY oil change I made. It is essentially the same as the RX we have.

Great instructions and pix! One question: Does the filter panel have a hinge that allows the "door" to drop down out of the way or???/ Thanks much. wh2

  6. The switch really is there. It is not clear at all where it is located in the picture in the manual. Look to the right of the steering column about 12 to 14" back from the bottom edge of the dash. The button actually faces the floor. It is a small button about 1/4" in diameter. You will not "acidentally" find it. there is also a place for the ride height on/off button if you have that option.

I just checked, and voila, it is right where you said it was! My dealer may not want to tell its location so that owners may have to bow to them and pay for resets. So much for "automatic" resetting; why else would they put in that button/circuitry? Thank you

  7. Same thing here. I just purchased my 2010 RX350 one week ago. The manual shows a TPMS reset button and how to operate it and resit it, but all that is there on the vehicle is a black plastic cover.

Thanks, AudioDave. Would you please ask your dealer to explain. My dealer is arrogant and non-responsive to my inquiry, even after approaching management in a kind, professional manner. I'd go to Lexus HQs, except my dealer would probably screw over me on any further dealings. Thanks again. Wh2

  8. Does anyone know where the tire pressure monitoring system reset button is located on my 2010 RX 350? The owner's manual shows a button on the lower dash to the right of the steering column, but my vehicle does not have it. I questioned my dealer and was told it automatically resets itself ( this after he unsuccessfully tried to locate it under the dash). While his explanation may be correct, I have a feeling he wanted to give an expeditious answer. The manual should be corrected if this new "automatic reset" feature is true.
