  1. Any reply yet? I'm in the same boat with my 2005. Any reply yet? I'm in the same boat with my 2005. No. Not yet. Hi Guys! I've got my SC430 since March 2001, so I had time to test some tires, and here is my take on that subject. Run flat tires were total mismatch for that car, so I changed them as soon as I could. My first set after run flat tires were Kumo. They were actually not bad. Then, I switched to Yokohama AVS ES100. I think they are a very good match for this car, and, since I am a cheapscape, I am happy that they don't cost arm and a leg. You must keep in mind though that I live in Southern California, and winter conditions as you know them are not the factor. I think that Sumitomo HTR Z2 may also be a good choice, but I haven't tried them yet. They are so inexpensive that it scares me. Since you are thinking about changing tires, you may want to change the cumber of the rear wheels. The original setting is too much of a negative angle for a cruiser because that is what the SC430 really is. No, I am not complaining, I am just realistic. I actually love my car. I also bought a 12V portable compressor, a fix a flat kit, and a can of tire repair in case I get a flat. I have had this car for almost six years now and I didn't get even one flat tire yet. I guess I must be lucky. In addition, I bought an extra set of wheels on ebay, and I keep one of those wheels with a tire on it in my garage. Enjoy your car. Is there anything that has to be done with the tire pressure sensors? Just don't break them when they change the tires!!! Run Flats are a bit*h to get off the rims and you can sometimes break the sensors. $120 to replace one. BTW, they are battery powered and will eventually need to be replaced anyway. When that time comes for me I plan on disconnecting the system. I refuse to spend $500 on something just to essxentially replace the battery.
  2. I went with Continental Conit's Extreme Contacts and I love them!!! I got them from tire rack and had them installed locally. The difference in ride quality is amazing. I bought a 12V portble compressor, a fix a flat kit and a can of tire repair in case I get a flat. So far so good. The run flats blow!!!!
  3. See attached. Good luck. Marty Key_Programming.pdf
  4. I put on a set of regular (non-run flat) snow tires without a set of sensors. The low pressure light comes on but does not beep. A piece of balck tape can cover that up. When you put your regular tires back on, you have to go to Lexus to have them reset the system.
  5. Go to: http://www.vaistech.com/home.html They have a system for you. Marty
  6. Sorry big guy, that's all I know!!! Can someone help this guy!!!

  8. I bought my alternator from a local parts supplier that specializes in Japanese cars in the Chicago area. It was a rebuild from Denso and cost about $220 if I remember correctly. The I called Pep Boys and had them install it for like $80 bucks.
  9. I went to http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html and used the tire comparison calculator about half way down the page. With the 235's vs. the 225's you will see a 1.68% difference in speed. So when your speedo shows 70 mph your actually travelling at 71.18 Not too bad.
  10. Vais Tech integrates XM satellite radios, not Sirius. I contacted them sveral months ago and they said they would announce something soon. I don't know what their definiition of soon means.
  11. Thanks everyone for your help! In the meantime my Parrot kit is installed and works perfectly with an external speaker. Recommended! Cheers ← Ma$e, did you wire the speaker yourself?? If so, was it difficult. Please explain the hook up.
  12. I would also like to install a Parrot CK3000 or CK3100 bluetooth unit in my 2002 SC340. I don't believe that the SC430 has ISO connectors in the back of the radio. I have contacted a few harness companies in Europe, but no luck with the SC430. Has anyone had a Parrot CK300 or 3100 installed?? If so, who did it and how???? I beleive I can find a mute wire somewhere in the radio, but how can you get the sound through the speakers? HELP!! ← Don't let me down, can anybody help!!!!

  14. I have also ordered new rims (Momo Twins in silver) for my SC430, they're due in tomorrow. It may be a while before I get them put on, so I did a little PhotShopping and here they are. Let me know what you think. Be kind. I'll post some real pictures when installed.
  15. Code 21 is the solar sensor and most likely means it was dark when you ran the test. My car did not blow heat also. I found that by adding a little coolant to the system (even though it appeared full) made my problem go away. It's real easy to try it.
  16. Try this link at E-Bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...sspagename=WDVW
  17. OK, I decided to buy some Momo 18" Twins in Silver (not the chrome) for a total of $500 + $80 for shipping. They should be here in a few days. My tires still have a little life in them, so I may not put them on until I get my new Pirelli's P-Zero's. Take a look at my cheap and dirty PhotoShop rendition of the rims on my car.
  18. Well, I found out it is not as easy at I hoped. Apparently it will be difficult to find 17" rims that will fit the car due to the brakes being so large. If any one has done this before, I would sure be interested.
  19. I am going to replace my SC430 18" Dunlop run flats with some 17" rims and tires. I have a 1995 SC400 that rides so much smoother than my SC430, I need to do something. I was considering just replacing the run flats with some 18" Pirelli P-Zero's, but that is still a pretty low profile tire. By my calulations, I should replace the 245/40/18's with 245/45/17's. The speedo error will be less than 1% which is great. Just to clarify, the tire pressure sensors can be removed from the stock rims and installed on the new rims, right?? I beleive they just need to be reset from the button in the glove box. I would appreciate any help and advice.
  20. I think they're usually drilled, but don't do it!!! A car looks so much better without it. In Illinois it's mandatory for so front plate but I've never had one and never had a problem.
  21. IT IS A GROUP 91 BATTERY!!! Go to this link for Interstate dealers near you. http://www.ibsa.com/estore/dealer_locator_...AJX2D64S4F&js=1
  22. When you say exact, do you mean the exact size or the exact O.E. battery with screw caps and everything?? The battery that comes with the SC430 is made in Japan. No U.S. battery manufacturer makes this style battery and I doubt they import them either. Even the Lexus dealer purchases their batteries from a U.S. supplier. If you just want the right battery, it is a Group 91 battery. I know Interstate brand (most likely made by JCI) carrries a Group 91.
  23. For a Lexus SC430 to have a salvage title, it must have been one hell of a wreck. I would ask for some "before" pictures to see how bad it was. To be honest, his prices are no where near low enough for a salvage title. I would be VERY careful before buying one of those. I too am in the market for a used SC430 and am amazed at the prices that people are asking. It doesn't seem like any of them are selling because they are asking so much. Check on E-Bay for finished auctions and you will see that 95% of the cars, the reserve is not met. Seems to me if they brought the prices back down to earth, they would sell. I know I would buy one. Good Luck!!
  24. I installed Kuhmo's. I got a price from Tire Rack and then went to NTB. They met their price + the shipping cost. Their inexpensive and handle well. I like them.
