  1. Yeah , it took me until the third coil failure until I finally changed them all. :( Just curious but what are the symptoms of a coil in need of replacement?
  2. FF- you believed what the dealer told you??? I'll bet you believe what politicians say too, heh??? Maybe I believed the dealer or maybe I didn't, not really any of your concern now is it? My headlights are now in brand new condition without any assistance from a dealer if that tells you anything about what I believed. As far as politics goes, I don't now nor have I ever given a flying fark about it. Doesn't matter who's in office because in reality nobody with your and my best interest at heart is and haven't been for a long, long time.
  3. I had always thought, and been told by a dealership, that my headlights were clouded up on the inside of the units and was prepared to spend hundreds of dollars for replacement units and install them myself. Just for grins, I purchased a bottle of Blue Magic Headlight Lens Restorer from Dollar General for five bucks and change. Much to my astonishment, after five minutes spent on each lens, they look like they did the day we drove it home from the Lexus dealer, amazingly simple procedure. Thanks to 1990LS400 for the heads up about them being fogged up on the outside. I love this forum!!
  4. I guess it is an easy fx for all those 'check codes'. Who needs to change sensors, plugs, coils etc... anymore? (joke) Well, after all, it's my wife's car. Was it a maint req light or check engine light? Resetting the maint req light is much different than the check engine light. The maint req light tells you it is time to change the oil and get the scheduled maint for the mileage your car is at. The maint req light would not come on after 8 days unless you drove for about 5000 miles in that time period. Jeff Its the check engine light. Don't think I've ever seen a maint. req. light on this model and not even sure it has one. I'll check the owner's manual to see for sure but in the past, say for a 90,000 mile inspection, the check engine light comes on about 500 miles before the event and AFAIK there's nothing due right now. Like I say, its the wife's car.

  6. Eight days later and the check engine light is still off
  7. If it is like the 09RX350, you make sure the odometer is set to 'normal' mileage, then turn off engine. Keep the button that changes odometer to trip mileage pressed, and turn key to 'ignition'. After a short while, a message scrolls across the odometer and the maintenance light goes out. You then let go of the button that changes odometer to trip. It is important to make sure you are in 'normal' odometer mode before you start the process, and that you turn the ignition key only after you hve the button pressed. This si explained somewhere 'deep' in the manual. Good luck! Just for grins, I tried your procedure on my 99 RX300. Although I got no message in the ODO window, after holding the button down for about 15 seconds, i released the button and turned the key off. When i restarted the engine the check engine light was out. :) Wonder how long it'll stay out? :(
  8. I found a used one for my RX300 in real good shape on EBAY very cheap and put it on with super strength double sided tape from Advanced Auto. Been on for two years and no problems.
  9. I was going to try this service http://sparecarkeys.com/catalog/product_in...products_id=104 but just found out I'm going to be in Dallas and close to Sewell Lexus next month and will use them. Sorry about the link, couldn't seem to make it clikey.
  10. We had the hood and plastics repainted on our 99 RX300 due to door dings and road chips. Used a harder, better quality paint on the hood and after two years there isn't any chipping even after several cross country road trips. Well worth the price paid.
  11. Yahoo!!!!! Thanks so much Ericok. just put the squeeze on it with my "tractor" channel locks and presto, after four years, no more sag. I'm a happy man. :) :)
  12. Any way you could measure that and let us know the distance from where the pivot arm goes into the visor to the "squeeze" point? Just trying not to have to cut into it. Thanks.
