  1. Hello All, I just changed the above mentioned caps and, as paranoid as I was in the beginning, it was a relatively painless 2 hour job. The hardest thing was to get the cluster out from the tight compartment and, of course, unplugging the 3 connectors. *****Thanks to all who provided all the valuable information on steps and diagrams.**** Removing the capacitors were tricky and one of them (the biggest one), I pulled on the cap before it was completely snapped off and the circuit wire ripped a bit but did not break. I thought I had a made a bigger mess but once I soldered the cap on and put everything back in, it worked like a charm. Suggestion: One thing that you may want to consider is putting masking tape around the outer trim of the cluster compartment and around the top of the steering column to avoid cosmetic scratches when removing the instrumentation. By the way, since 4.7uF at 25V was hard to find, I used 4.7uF at 35V and it worked fine. Thanks again and good luck to all who wants to do this by themselves. Ravi
  2. The best option is to take someone along for the drive. Carry out a light conversation and you will get to your destination in no time. If you have to go alone, then you can do a few things to prepare yourself. 1. Eat right and not too much. A big meal tends to make a person relaxed and thus likely to be sleepy. 2. I would not recommend taking things like red bull or any energy drink because caffiene is not the best for anything. These are energy drinks, and unless you are expending vast amounts of energy (of which you don't driving an LS), adverse effects are more likely than not. 3. If you need a waker-upper, eat an apple, works just as well as coffee. 4. Got this from a transportation company that does long hauls: (and it has helped me significantly!!) : During daylight driving, wearing glasses with orange colored lenses significantly reduce eye strain (a major cause of driver fatigue). They are better for driving that regular dark tinted sunglasses. A good pair of driving glasses can help you deflect glare and keep your eyes on the road. I keep one in my glove compartment.
  3. Hi all, I am trying to replace my broken CD changer on a 94 LS 400 with an MP3 player instead. Has anyone done it successfully, WITHOUT using an FM modulator. I am inquiring if this can even be done. Any advice on this matter is appreciated. thanks, Ravi
  4. Hello everyone, I just joined the Club. The CD changer in my 94 LS 400 is not working anymore. I don't think it is the Nakamichi brand, (possibly Panasonic) but I now need to replace it. Here are a few questions that I have. If anyone can answer them, much is appreciated. 1. Can I use an after market CD changer to work with the Audio Console up front? If so, what do I need to do and what brand do you reccomend? 2. If I have no choice but to get an OEM replacement, where can I get them cheap? Also, I have another minor problem with the car. When it is cold ( freezing temperatures) outside, it takes several minutes for the guages on the dashboard to light up. I know that it just means that the car needs to warm up but I am not auto saavy enough to know why this happens. It did not use to do this before and the most I have checked is the fuses which are all in great condition. Once again, any advice will be appreciated. thanks, Ravi
