  1. I just changed my ATF and I used Toyota T-IV fluid now it doesn't shift the same.. it took just over 3.5 qts.
  2. are you getting the new coils from ?Toyota? Lexus? I have seen batches of defective parts more than once, especialy aftermarket
  3. personally I would add an additve (seafoam or other) for about 100 miles and then flush again. Did the problem show up after the flush? or before? is your mechanic using the correct type of fluid?(I would use toyota or AMSOIL)you might also consider changing the filter, Iv'e seen clogged trans coolers do weird stuff. have your mechanic check and or flush your cooler too, the simple method is to buy a can of cooler flush(commonly used when a transmission is replaced) and follow with a blaast of compressed air to remove the remainder of the flush..
  4. check your power steering fluid
  5. anyone know what silver color touch-up paint best matches my rims?? 02 es300 stock 9 spoke alloys...
  6. some how or another bulbs have a way of both going out at the same time. its not "common" but I have seen it several times. one day i had no headlights in my accord and both bulbs were out, another time I had no brake lights on my firebird and yup, both bulbs, same time??/ check it out, it is possible...
  7. are these 4 wire heated sensors? usually if they both are an issue at the same time its usually the heaters as they are on the same circuit .. it would be pretty hard to incorrectly install the correct sensors, unless they were a universal style that required attatching the old plug, where human error could be a possibility.... the other possibility is the ECM..or the engine ground or the 5 volt reference signal or,or,or...
  8. actually the rear 02 sensor is just reporting the efficiency of the catalytic converter(s)..actualy has no affect on performance or fuel mixture...that is if there are three or more sensors(V6)...if it is pre cat then yes it will affect the affiliated bank in which it is in-line with..I hope I'm not confusing anyone...just trying to help
  9. i have had good luck with bg frigi fresh but it sounds like you have a much more serious issue .. have you thought of using a bleach water combo and really drenching it through the intake?? there is also an ultra violet light that we used at our dealer ship to rid cars of smokers reek.. it worked very well but sometimes faded the carpet where it shined. we would start the car and run the ac on max w/ the lamp close to the return air intake for a couple hours.. it helped a lot. good luck and let all of know what the ultimate solution is as that what this is all about..
  10. just an update, I went back too the tire shop and with little hesitation they were willing to listen to me complain about the balance issue along with what I thought to be a rough ride. Come to find out the "V" rated tires are a perfomance tire and ride quality was not what they were desiged for so they offered me a "T" rated tire (130 MPH VS.115 MPH) stating that the ride would be far more comfortable. I agreed to the change and explaind that a dynamic balance would be nessesary as the static balance "sucked" . After they charged me for a restocking fee, a mount and balance fee the lower price of the "T" rated tire paid the difference...Well it does ride better(a little) but those butt holes scratched three of the rims one of them very deep w/ impact gun, It seems like i have the worst luck w/ shops... just have to stick to doing most of my own work... anyone know what silver color touch-up paint best matches my rims?? 02 es300 stock 9 spoke alloys...
  11. I would be careful with this method of checking your alternator, it could cause a large spike in voltage as the battery is a "buffer" for your charging system absorbing voltage spikes and compensating for other abnormalities... it does sound like an alternator failure. does the car start right up after it dies? if it does then battery and connections at battery should be ok..look at ecm relay and fuses for loose and or corrosion.. check for voltage drops across all grounds.. there are hundreds of reasons for this failure in general, good luck
  12. my 90 accord has 350,000 but thats another story
  13. I am the proud owner of an 02 es300 pearl white with tan leather, it has the mark/levenson sound, the navigation, and traction control. I paid 14,300 after tax and registration,it had 94,500 miles on it evrything that came with the car is still in there all the manuals, first aid kit, even the lexus pen.. it is in near perfect condition, minus a couple of rock dings and a tiny scratch on the rear bumber. I needed the a/c clutch relay and wiper blades that was it. I did decide to put new tires on it though just because two were different than the other two. The only thing I don't know if the T-belt was done, I have the belt but the waterpump is back-ordered for another two weeks, so i'll wait till that gets here... most wonderful car I've ever owned.. oh and it also has the sun shade and HID lights
  14. I just bought a new set of cooper touring tires and the wheels will not allow wieghts to be put on the outside. I informed the guys at the tire shop that they would have to use tape wieghts but thats all they did, now I have a shake at 70 and up. Although it is minor, it shouldn't be there.I noticed the balancing on the spare tire included a regular weight on the inside of the rim AND a tape weight toward the outer side but still on the inside... can they do this at a regular tire shop or will I have to drive the 200 miles to the dealer? I mean whats the use of having a tire that will safely go 130mph but starts shaking at 70? I have installed hudreds of tires and was wondering if the settings on the tire balancer could be changed, like the rim width to reflect the location of the " outer wieght "??.. any experienced tire people out there? any help or comments would be appreciated..
  15. i have replaced bulbs in other radios but not the one you are refering to.. usually if you are (VERY) tallented at disassembling electronics and very good at soldering it is possible.. SOMETIMES THE VOLTAGE IS NOT 12V ...... and those itty bitty bulbs can be hard to find... and install .... just remember its like one incredible puzzle; it will go together but only one way and that is if you did not break anything getting it apart...i would say good luck even if you are very experienced..
  16. yes i would also assume it was a sloppy tech that just did not clean up after your last "LOF" ( lube oil filter ).. if you are still curious just add some(special flourecent) dye to your oil and use a black light to trace the leak...
  17. ya i bought my plugs from the toyota dealer 10 bucks each but wth if they last 100k why not ... beleive it or not the engine was designed to have a specific plug and w/o it it will not perform like it was intended to
  18. this is my first post so bear w/ me. I like the grill, looks hot. i am basiclly writing cause i was extreemly happy that the 66 dollar relay fixed my problem w/ the dreadful blinking ac light...oh btw i am the new proud owner of a really nice 02 es 300 got it w/ 94500 and three weeks later i'm due for an oil change.. ya i drive it... ive been a tech for ten years or more and i know my way around a toyota but i do like to bounce ideas off of others for reinforcement.. hence my actuall question... i bought this car used and i am not sure of maint..schedule i will do the T belt w/ the waterpump finaly gets here on the 17th.. is there anything else i should address??i have the plugs and i am thinking of getting a plenum gasket cause that just looks like way to much blood and tears to change them back three w/o just pulling the plenum.... hey thanks for reading and or whatever..lol
