  5. hi im changing my front brake pads and i wanted to know what steps do i need to know. i recently change my rear brake pads, and it was an easy job. are the front pads as easy to change as the rear.
  6. If you do have experience the rears are super easy. There are pins and clips holding the pads in place. No real tools needed once the wheel is off. I have 20" wheels and didn't even take my rims off. Good luck The usual way I find out I need brakes is for my mechanic to tell me - often at the time of inspection. How would I otherwise know it's time to replace the pads? (aside from removing the wheels and measuring the depth of the pad) i knew it was time to change my brakes when i could hear a scraping noise coming from my rear brakes when i was driving. on the brake pads there is a metal piece on them that when the pads are worn down to a certain length they make a scraping noise. i also stuck my finger between the rotor and the brake pad to feel how much of the pad was left.
  7. hi i finally had a chance to change my rear brakes and i have to say it was very easy to do. you are just throwing your money away taking it to a mechanic to have them change. thanks to everyone who gave me info on how to change the brakes. i also had a question now that i have the new brake pads on do i need to have the rotors resurfaced.
  8. its very easy all you need is a phillips head screwdriver. there are four screws, two on each foglight. the screws are in the front of the foglight
  9. hi i need to change my rear brake pads and i want to do this myself, so can anyone give me instructions on how to change them so i dont do something wrong. :D
  10. I just wanted to let everybody know what had happened to my car, and what the problem was. I decide to take my car to a local mechanic to find out why the check engine kept telling me my oxygen sensors where bad when i replace them with new ones. It turns out there was nothing wrong with oxygen sensors, some how a rodent, mice or rat had chew and damage the wires at the e.c.m the mechanic replace the damage wires and now my car has passed its smog check. So if anybody gets the codes po130,133 po150,153 and cant pass there smog test check the wires at the e.c.m :) thanks for letting us know! How much did he charge you to replace the wire in the ECM and what color was it? there were a few wires he had to replace, i dont know what color they were. he charge me $320 and that was all labor. $15 for parts.
  11. my brother had the same problem with his is300. before you start trying to program the buttons make sure your garage doors are closed all the way.

  15. i have a 2001 gs300 with 70,000 miles on it and i failed my smog check. the smog guy said my emissions are high and my car is now a gross polluter. the check engine light is on and the code tells me the the oxygen sensors are bad, bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 1 i replace both sensors with denso sensors from rock auto. after i replace the sensor i drove my car for 100 miles to make sure the check engine didn't come back on and it didn't. then yesterday i took it to get smog, and it fail. when driving back from the smog place the check engine light came on again. can some please help me out why my car's check engine keep saying the oxygen sensors are bad when i replace them. i also had a srt intake with ecu on my car when the check engine light first came on, i now have the stock intake back on. please help. :(
  16. hi i wanted to know if there is a way to clear check engine light codes without a scan tool. i have to replace 2 oxygen sensor's on my car and i dont want to spend money on a scan tool. i have a 2001 GS300.
  17. The sensors can be easily replaced by yourself, I would only purchase OEM parts. Check online....Maybe sewell lexus or irontoad. Welcome to the club Auto Zone can read your codes. They have several sensors available when you read thier readout. I have just replaced two, so I should know. Lexus will charge much more. All you need is a wrench and a will. If you are working with Zone one on a GS 300 they are easily accesabily under the hood, right side. Will plug right in. Caution: they have several available, make sure you get the right one with the plug that matches or they will swap it for another. Try the cheapest first as OEM and work up to the more expensive one. The ones on the back bank are not so easy as they go through the floor and plug in up behind the dash. Good luck. thanks for all the info :D
