  1. So on my trip from Dallas to Los Angeles, i noticed this: my car is full of stuff for my move, and when I'd set it at 75 mph and I hit a steeper hill, it disengages. It never did that before with no baggage. So I'm thinking that when there's quite a bit more than normal strain on the tranny (?), that the cruise control disengages for some sort of safety feature that prevents any damage to the car? just a deduction.
  2. Hey, y'all! Your input's been helpful, so just another quick question: My cruise control would turn off in the middle of driving (i.e. the freeway) about once a month. All I need to do then is to pull over, turn off the car, then restart the car. Then the cruise is back on. Right now it's more of an inconvenience. However, is this symptomatic of the cruise going down and something need replacing? Can I know if I can go ahead and replace it ahead of a long road trip? Thanks for y'all's help !!
  3. Ooops, sorry jules ! i was responding to Lex's multiple choice question. As far as the mesh work on yours, it is truly impressive what you've done. the hood grille work looks meticulous - so was the airdam one being flush around the lights.
  4. i've been getting confusing info on this, but what are my options for replacing my struts on my 1991 LS 400? 1. does it originally have self-leveling? 2. can i just replace it with KYB or another brand? 3. what about those conversion kits? 4. what can i expect to spend on replacing all 4? 5. is having someplace like Sears(?) or another place that installs it for free be a real option? thanks, y'all !
  5. thanks for the suggestion on the mounts. maybe your shop can check the car out prior to me heading out.
  6. i have a 91 LS4 and i put a 98 LS4 chrome wheels on it - went from 15-inch to 225/60/16. i noticed a 5% decrease in the odo mileage. 1. should i add 5% on my speedometer to reflect accurate speed? 2. would this cause any problems? skimming wheel wells? 3. anyone looking for a set of 4 good-condition 1991 original wheels with 95% tread on the Yokohama YK420 P205/65/15?
  7. one thing good about Lexus cars is that the more-subtle touches actually adds to the self-assured persona of the cars. most the time, the obvious '"look at me" items on them says 'trying too hard'. the spinner wheels, etc. look ghetto. the mesh looks good, but better on the cars little boys with the big mufflers drive. the chrome's solid, confident.
  8. along the same lines as this topic, i have a 91 LS4 and i put a 98 LS4 chrome wheels on it - went from 15-inch to 225/60/16. i noticed a 5% decrease in the odo mileage. 1. should i add 5% on my speedometer to reflect accurate speed? 2. would this cause any problems? skimming wheel wells? 3. anyone looking for a set of 4 good-condition 1991 original wheels with 95% tread on the Yokohama YK420 P205/65/15?
  9. thanx for y'all responses. very helpful.
  10. Thinking of driving my 1991 LS 400 from Dallas, TX to Los Angeles, CA and maybe up to Seattle from there too (and maybe back, or not). Pointers on getting it ready for the trip? 1. EGR valve needs replacing, i think. 2. Traction OFF light intermittently comes on 3. A little jerk/jump forward when going from Park to Drive 4. Any tips on minimizing fuel consumption/max miles per gallon? 5. Best route Dallas to L.A.? Good layover spots? 6. Good/great touring tires? (225/60/16) Thanks for y'all suggestions!
