  1. The brakes on the back drivers side work perfectly. Its the passenger side that has problems. New bulbs won't fix the problem.
  2. Anyone have a clue what this might be? I can't be the only one to experience this can I?
  3. I have an 02 RX 300 and I noticed a couple of weeks ago that my 2 passenger brake lights went in and out. They finally went out so I replaced the bulbs, but they still won't work properly. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't. Is there a relay switch that is causing the problem?
  4. It is absolutely ok. I use synthetic for all of my cars. It was recommended on the forums for my supra and I have been using it on all of my vehicles. It sustains the brutal summers here in Dallas.
  5. Hey everyone. I have a 99 ES 300 with 125000 miles. I had the code p0420 a few months ago. I replaced the back o2 sensor and cleared the codes. About 70 miles later the exact same code came back on. I have searched previous posts stating that it probably is the cat, but I am wondering if anyone has had the problem and fix lately? Thanks.
  6. It's probably not a big deal. I just had that happen to my 99 ES300. I checked it out and it was the back o2 sensor. That is probably what it is P0420. It is the most common check engine light code to come up on any newer vehicle. I am going to buy an o2 simulator for my car. Replacing the unit which is not important (except for emissions) will be expensive. I love the environment, but the car burns clean. Take your car to Autozone or your local parts store. They will check out the code for free. When you get the code, check out this site to see what it is. www.obd-codes.com
  7. Check out Crutchfield's website. They have a list of all speakers that fit and pricing. You may also want to try good ol' Ebay. They have everything. I saw a used piece of gum from a ball player there years ago.
  8. It's a very easy process. Just remove the clips on the outside of the housing unit. The unit is plastic and is able to come out once you remove the clips. Let me know if you have any problems. I am replacing my filter this week as well.
  9. Can you give me a little more detail about what you were trying to do? I wasn't quite sure what you were talking about.
  10. Did you check to see if it did any damage to the calipers now that it is gone? It could have been a rock or something that could have scored the caliper if so.
  11. I was just curious about the age of ES300 drivers on this forum. I am 33.
  12. Damn! I hope to hit just half of the miles that you have. That's pretty impressive. You must take very good care of your car. Congrats.

  14. Call them up and give it a shot. Just remember that brakes are probably the most important part of your car next to tires. Don't go cheap or screw around with them.
  15. It sounds like a fuse. If you had only one window that didn't work that would be one thing, but if it effects all 4 of them, it sounds like a bad fuse. Just check for the one that controls that unit and replace it. The whole process should only cost you 50 cents or less.
  16. I would go with the oem pads and rotors. Don't go with cross drilled. I put them on my Supra and I am not very happy with them. They work great, but they are expensive, you can't turn them, and if you do any type of racing, you will destroy them very fast. Less than one year on my car. Besides, our ES300's weren't designed for racing.
  17. Definitely do what steviej said. Tirerack is a great site for evaluting performance vs road noise. Bridgestones Potenzas are great performance tires but you will probably sacrifice some noise in the process. Its all personal preference.
  18. You shouldn't have to replace any axles. It does sound like a CV joint or boot as they like to call them. Easy, but very messy fix. You should get that checked out asap. You don't want to get too much debris or anything else in the joint if its exposed and the grease is gone.
  19. The longevity of your brake pads depends on your driving habits and type of pads. I just had to replace the pads and rotors today on my wifes G35 after 53k because of agressive nature of the pads and her Michael Schumacher driving style. There is actually a law suit based on the pads and rotors, but that shouldn't be a problem with your car. I had very limited tools and completed the task in 4 hours and 2 beers. Just go very slow, clean off the brackets around the pads with carb cleaner, and make sure that you tighten everything and then retighten and recheck your work. It's your life. Your shaking does sound like a warped rotor. You can have them resurfaced if they aren't too bad. It's an easier project than it seems. Good luck.
  20. That sounds strange. Please let us know how you turn out. I hope it doesn't hurt too bad when you see the bill.
  21. Thank you both for the response. I will do a little more homework about both plugs.
  22. I think you might want to take a look at your alternator. They have a tendency to cause that type of problem. You should take your car in Advance Auto or something similar to have the codes checked.
  23. Hey everyone. I have a 99 ES300 and I am looking to replace the spark plugs. What kind of plugs are you using?
  24. I have the same code problem with my 99 ES300. Here is the page that I found the problem. What octane are you running? That might trip the sensor as well. http://www.obd-codes.com/p0420 You can either replace the O2 sensor or purchase an emulator. That is the route I think I am going to take. I hope this helps.
