  1. My LS430 has approx. 42K miles. The brakes work fine I inspected the brakes on all four wheels the other day and noticed that all the rotors looked OK but the pads thickness varied from 4mm to 5 mm. My questions are: 1. At what minimum thickness the pads should be replaced? 2. Where should I purchase the OEM pads? 3. What is the pads removal sequence? I mean first remove the hair pin/clip, then slided out the stainless steel rod, and then remove the brake pads? 4. Do I need to apply an anti-squeeling grease/lubricant on each shim? Thanks
  2. I have 06 LS430 with approx. 42K miles and have the following questions: 1. What were the pad thicknesses when you decided to replace the pads (1mm, 2mm or more)? 2.Where did you purchase the OEM pads & for how much? 3. Did you remove the hair pin/clip first and then slided out the rod before removing the brake pads? 4. Did you apply an anti-squeeling grease on each shim? Thanks
  3. I inspected the rear brakes & rotors recently. There is no securing bolt/screw. Make sure the cailper (with brake pads) is off the rotor. Then give three to four hard taps with a rubber mallet. The rotor should slip off. If not, then apply WD40 on the rusted areas; and few more taps with a mallet should free up the rotor. 6" C-clamp should be big enough. You should put a block of wood over piston top and clamp against that. The brake fluid reservoir cap is located under the hood on the driver side by the fire wall (next to the anti-lock brakes control box). Good Luck.
  4. I was trying to get the rotor off the rear wheel for INSPECTION. I got the brake caliper (with pads) off but I can't get the rotor off as some type of bolt/screw is holding it on the axle hub. Can someone tell me what type of bolt/screw is holding the rotor? I got the small rubber cover off accidently but I can't see inside the hole to see the type of bolt/screw. Thanks
