  1. Yeah, I just got a 2003 LS430. Got the key to start the engine, but need help to program lock/unlock/trunk. Thanks.
  2. Look at www.taprecycling.com. They're a used Lexus/Toyota parts dealer.
  3. Hope some one can help me. My 99 RX300 radio is driving me crazy. When I tune to AM alot of the time there is a buzz coming thru the speakers in rythm with the acceleration of the engine. Not sure if this is a grounding problem or what. I've replaced the antenna twice already since it got bent both times, but haven't touched the connection behind the rear panel.
  4. The switch (it used to be a plunger type switch on older cars at the door hinge) that controls the interior lights is inside the door panels. Evidently this switch is either sticking or went bad. My 99 RX does the same thing intermittently. This has been discussed on this forum before, but I don't remember how much it costs to replace. All I remember is that it's pricy. BTW, this switch is also connected to the automatic relock system on the car - if you haven't opened the door within 30 seocnds, it locks again. And don't do what my son did, he unlocked the door, set the keys on the seat, and closed the door. With the switch sticking, the doors relocked. ← ← I haven't replaced my switch, but I'm sure it's in the driver's door.

  6. Rhody401, are you talking about the RX330 or RX300? I have a 99 RX300 that also seems to be sluggish. I didn't know there was any firmware update for the RX300.
  7. Two questions? 1. Did you not test drive the RX before purchasing? I would have thought you would have tried the sound system then. 2. Why would you want to destroy the beauty of the RX by building boxes in the back?
  8. I have the same problem, though intermittently, on my driver's side door. I think the switch is actually inside the door and is activated by the door latch. I haven't taken the inside panel off to confirm this, I did a check on the rear door.
  9. It's been awhile, but I think I just took the light from the "L" position and placed it in the "D". BTW, the steps 'riwyle' gave sound alot like the procedure I followed for the Camry. Again, not hard to do but take your time.
  10. I had a 92 Camry and replaced the "D" light. I haven't looked at my RX, but it being a Toyota product, you have to remove the instrument panel to get to these lights. It's not all that hard (removing the framing and instrument panel involves about 8 screws), it takes some time and patience.
  11. On the RX there are no visible door plungers. Evidently they are located within the door near the handle and door latch mechanism. I did a little experimenting with the rear door and figured that's where the 'plungers' are. Also, the dome light will come on but the thing that must trigger the timers is the door light at the bottom of the door. When that light doesn't come on, the doors relock. I haven't removed the door panel to get access to the switch yet. I'll bet removing the door panel will be somewhat of a pain. I've decided to just remember to open and close the rear door to activate the timers.
  12. I replaced the antenna on my 99 RX300. Quite easy. I got the antenna from the dealer to make sure it was the right one. Anyway, loosen the ring at the base of the antenna. Turn the radio on and when the antenna starts to extend, it will basically come out by itself in your hand. Then just set the new antenna into the hole, turn the radio off and the antenna will retract back into the mast.
  13. On my 99 RX300 the auto feature on the headlights will not operate all the time. Sometimes the lights will go off after say 5 minutes and then sometimes they won't go off at all. I thought maybe the relay is bad or the contacts are dirty. Also, is it normal for the doors to relock when you unlock them with the remote key. I know if you don't open the door within 30 seconds, they relock, but recently I've noticed that when unlocking the door and opening the door, when I close the door, the doors relock. If I put the keys in the ignitions, remove it and then close the door, it won't relock. Any help?
  14. I've replaced the bulb on my 99 RX300. The plastic molding at the top of the rear window snaps off. I just grabbed it with my hands and it popped off. Putting it back on is a little tricker since you have to get it at just the right angle so it snaps back place. (I had it one once and thought it was fine but realized it was not on right when I stepped on the brake and could see the light shining)
  15. I also would like to get the approximate mileage.
  16. Since reading the various replies to RX300 transmission problems, I would like to get feedback from as many RX300 owners that have had to have extensive work done on their transmissions. I need year and if possible, manufactured date of your RX. (The date can be found on driver's door frame nameplate) If someone has already done this, direct me to that post. Thanks.
