  1. I was just referring to the cheap Sport Edition wheels as "winter" because that's how they were being sold and so many are used for snows. The LS430 brake clearance worries me. These Sport Edition wheels came from a 2005 ES330 and I just don't know much about all the different Lexus models. I'm having trouble getting all the specs from the seller (on CL???). I thought someone might chime in and say the '05 ES330 were no problem brake-wise on my '01 LS430. Thanks, C.
  2. Will 16" Sport Edition winter wheels from a 2005 ES330 fit my '01 LS430? I married into the LS430 and doing my best to keep it in the family. Thanks, C.
  3. Friend's '01 LS430 no start with no dash lights or gauges. Found the blown, square 160 amp fuse in the long box under the hood. Thanks to this forum, I discovered you must get this box free and then manage to split it open to access the bolts that secure the fuses. I think this may have happened from crossing jumper cables... Thanks!!! I never would have figured this one out.
  4. I joined this forum to help my friends with their "new" '01 LS430. It's just like yours without the mods. I had never driven our even paid attention to these cars brfore. We live in snow country and one of our extra/kid cars is a rear drive 740 Volvo "Brick". It has a traction lock rear and does quite well in the snow with a little weight. I thought I would "test" the 430 to see how it pulled. I switched off the traction control and punched it. Holy s*%#, I was blown away by how that mother runs!!! I didn't even know at that time it was a V8. What a great car. Did I say they inherited it from their grandfather a couple weeks ago..... with 13,000 miles.. Ouch. C.
  5. Thanks '90LS, you gave me so much good info. I'm new to this buying cheap alloys from TR. I always bought steelies and tires and found this year with my wife's '07 Audi that steel wheels were not available. I bought $96 alloys from TR when I couldn't find used. I'm happy with those wheels but I hear you on the trouble-in-the -future thing. It sure is easy to order up mounted, balanced wheels&tires and slap'em on. Thanks for the tips... C. Hey, I just looked at the '00 LS400 on TR and they showed the 215/65-16 as an alternate... I didn't know that when I posted. You really think the 430 is above using 215's? We need all the snow performance we can get with steep driveways and a lot of sketchy conditions. Thanks, C.
  6. New here helping friends set up their "new" 2001 LS430 with winter wheels & tires. The owners manual says the stock sizes are 225/60-16 and 225/55-17. Tire Rack does not offer 16's for the LS, only for the GS. I want to set up snows on 16's and may even go to 215/65's for the best snow traction. I have lots of experience setting up cars for snow and know the perils of going off spec. I may or may not go 215.... My question: Can I fit 16" wheels offered by Tire Rack for the GS on our LS? Is there a caliper issue? Thanks, C.
