  1. Exactly right. They sell them like seat covers. They just peel the old one off and slip the new one on. I've seen them for sale before on a JDM website, but that was a long time ago and I don't remember the which website I saw it on, I remember because it referred to the piping color choices for seats, and I was surprised that there was a choice! so the dealer got new seat skins and they just replaced them for a customer. I appreciate these replies. However, you CAN replace the middle seat section, which is the perforated part. Any good upholstery shop can do it. I have done it on other cars with solid (not perforated leather) sections. Yes, everyone is correct--they do come from Lexus in one complete piece and that is the only way you can replace it IF YOU BUY THE PART FROM LEXUS. Therein lies the $1400 problem. Even the Lexus dealer suggested replacing only the middle section, which received a cut and had a bad repair on it. Of course they would like to sell me a whole seat bottom but they also realize (in the real world) not many people will spend the money for a complete seat bottom. Labor at an independent leather upholstery shop (which does Mercedes, BMW, Lexus repairs charge about $200 labor to replace the middle section of the seat and it looks factory perfect. I have seem it done many times but the hard part is finding a piece of "perforated" leather which has the exact matching hole pattern. Many leather dealers have their own perforated leather and I have found one that is almost identical but not perfect. Again, I would rather wait to find a piece of "factory perforated leather". If it were "solid" smooth leather, it would be no problem to find or match but the "perforated part" makes it difficult to find. The Lexus dealer is hoping to find a "return or damaged seat with perforated leather" that is replaced under warranty and they will give me the middle perforated part. Unfortunately this could happen tomorrow or 8 months from now so I do not know when or if---Lexus can help me. So that is why I am trying to find an "independent source" or someone who may have a damaged perforated leather seat. I need gray if possible.
  2. Does anyone know where you can get leather to replace a seat- middle insert section- on 07 Lexus IS with perforated fabric? Looking for gray leather. Do not want to pay Lexus $1400 for whole seat replacement section.
  3. I have one working 07 IS 250 "key fob". I just purchase a second key with fob and would like to program the new key fob myself rather than paying Lexus $50. I have seen the programming sequence for using the brake and gas pedal to program the older IS with an "ignition slot" in the dash, but I cannot find any info for programming sequence for the push button ignition. Does anyone have the programming "instructions" to program a second key fob, --other than having the dealer do it with their meter.
  4. K & N air filter-- DO , per dyno test, add 3-4 hp on almost any car--including IS 250. Increased air flow to the fuel/air mixture definitely increases performance on any car. Why do you think the larger ISF air intake system uses a different air filter than the standardj cotton Lexus filter? To increase air flow naturally. Obviously the person that said K & N doesn't make any difference has no experience with performance enhancements and related dyno tests. Just look on line or "in your hands" at the difference between the "standard" long cotton pleated filter on any stock filter and then look at the pleats on an K & N or FAE filter. Now try to blow air through both. Which has less air resistance? Not the cotton filter. Both aftermarket (and more expensive) allow for increased air flow and these are facts backed by "real world" tests on both street and race cars. Any person can look this up in 2 minutes on line. I have used K & N filters on Porsches and BMWs for 20 years and autocrossed both as well as an occcasional Lexus 250, 350. No, the 250 is not a Porsche or BMW but air filters are all not created equal. The facts and related articles speak for themselves Fact--look up Dinan's larger air intake box for BMWs--and the related air filter. It does NOT use standard cotton for one simple reason--too much air intake resistance vs a performance synthetic filter. Can you "feel" 2-4 hp? No --but it is still there and also helps (very minor) with gas milage. Once again, people, this is not about creating a race car out of a 250 but simply doing all you can at a small cost to improve drivability.
  5. Take it out and run it up to at least 6000rpm in each gear. Then add a can of BG44k engine treatment to the gas every 5k miles. If you drive over 100mph add 3lbs to each tire pressure. Add an K&N lifetime air filter and check it every 3 mo to see if it needs cleaning and reoiling. Make sure 4 wheel alignment stays in check.
