  1. Is it any quicker to browse files on discs on the ML system? It's nice that the IS displays songs on a disc (6 or 8 at a time, can't remember), but I find that the time lag almost makes me never want to use it
  2. Don't make me take video on how I step into my car, lol. It's not like my knee hits the volume knob every time I get in. For example this morning after I opened the door I had to hop over some snow & get in the car, that's when my knee jabbed the knob in. If only the stereo was above the temperature control i'd never hit that knob
  3. So a week after I bought my Lex, while coming into the car my knee accidentally hit the volume knob pretty hard. (I'm 6'3" tall). It got pushed in about a half inch & wouldn't come back out to its normal position. Oddly enough the power & volume functions were still working. It was just annoying because I couldn't get a good grip on the knob when adjusting the volume. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the stereo free of charge since I was still under the bumper to bumper warranty. What happened this morning? The same thing! :chairshot: Ughhh, my long legs. Now i'm wondering if I should get the stereo replaced again because i'm sure this is forever going to be a problem issue with me & this car. Thank God i've got warranty until this Nov.9 2009
  4. Actually I heard that on my local news a few months back. Not the JD Power & Associates rating but I think it was the top 20 most dependable cars & Lexus/Lincoln were tied for the #1 spot. Me being a pre-owned Lexus owner, I can't really comment on the reliability too much because i've already had a few things gone wrong in the 3 months i've owned the car now.
  5. Worked for me as well, 2006 IS250 AWD. On the 2nd attempt I made sure to hold down the odometer button immediately after pushing the ignition button twice. That beep was such a pain. It's not that I don't wear my seatbelt, I just put it on after I get out of my driveway
  6. I'm not sure if we have the same problem but I noticed that my picture quality isn't the best either. Really wouldn't call what i'm seeing static, or fuzzy, but just poor quality picture. But all in all i'm still able to see everything behind me, no major interference
  7. You guys are making me feel like I should've bought an IS350 :( The only reason I passed on the car was because I thought it wouldn't handle that well in the snow, even w/winter tires. So I went w/the 250 AWD. But I still gotta say, we had some significant snowfall so far this winter & this car kicked a**. Never got stuck once, even going up the steepest, iciest hills
  8. I had my eye on a white IS350 since its release in late 2005, even test drove it, but didn't want to pay the big $$$. Long story short me & my wife recently had a baby and our 2 door sport coupe was an absolute headache getting the infant car seat in the back, not to mention my wife having to squeeze herself into the rear seat to take care of the little one. We were in the market for a 4 door sedan and narrowed it down to the Infiniti M35X & the Lexus IS250AWD/350. I had to kill my dream of getting the IS350 'cause of the high price but mainly because it was RWD, Winter can be brutal here & I didn't want to risk getting stuck in snow in the middle of a storm with our little baby in the back. We had to knock the M35X off the list even though the interior had more features than the IS, it was the exterior that ruined it, so unattractive. So we decided on the IS250 AWD. Only 2 requirements, 1. Must be the fully loaded Luxury package w/Nav. 2. Exterior must be white, or I could even settle for silver, nothing else. Ended up finding a pre-owned fully loaded model at a nearby Lex dealership with low mileage and an OUTSTANDING price. Me & my wife were sold after the test drive. :D Only 1 problem - the exterior was black. The salesman & my wife then gave me the lecture of, "when you're in the market for a pre-owned vehicle you can't get everything you want". :( So I sacrificed the colour & purchased the vehicle. But man, even now, when I see a white or silver IS driving down the road, they ALWAYS grab my attention... Even contemplated having my car painted. Oh & by the way, another feature I loved about the IS250/350 are the stock rims, beautiful! I'm not too crazy about the ones that come with the AWD. Regarding its power, I think its awesome. I'm coming from a Toyota Celica GTS that had 180HP to the IS that has 208 (I think), so i'm happy.
  9. I find that jumping through song titles on burned MP3 discs takes a while to scroll through, page by page, so slow I rarely use the function of searching through titles
  10. Actually it's more current music I use the turntables for. But regarding your question about your old albums, you can connect your stereo to your computer soundcard via an RCA to 1/8" cable adapter, then use audio software like Cubase to play in & record music. Then export the music to your hard drive as an mp3 file. Sounds complicated? It sort of is if you're not a techy. Only down side is the time it takes to play every single one of your records from beginning to end! If I were you i'd just use a program called Soulseek to download your tunes. http://www.slsknet.org/download.html It's my preferred application to download music (for free, shhhhh!) B)
  11. How's the response time grabbing music & searching through your collection? I find just searching through files on my MP3 discs is pretty slow. Man it would be nice to carry all my music on a USB key
  12. Apparently with this you can control your iPod via the touchscreen Nav audio options. + it connects via the data port at the bottom of your iPod, not through the headphone jack = better sound quality. Check it out: http://www.vaistech.com/home.php Wonder if anyone already has this installed, any comments?
  13. That's right, all male here Randy. That's a photo of my wife with my turntables in the picture ;)
  14. This reminds me of a time I let my mom borrow my Toy Celi GTS. She comes home from the mall & tells me, "your car is making alot of noise". After some question asking I figure out she popped the car into manual mode & didn't know it. She was driving all the way home in first gear!! Thank God for the limiter and the fact that car doesn't red line until 8000rpm or my VVTL-I engine would've bin toast, lol
  15. Wish I could swap my headlamp washers for your radar cruise :D
  16. Actually a car is one of the best environments to listen to music considering you are in an enclosed insulated environment with the speakers so close to you. & By the way I meant to say I am an audio engineer at heart but actually work for a Satellite Television company ;) Really I find the stock system to be pretty good, nice & loud, the mid-range & highs are sweet especially with those tweeters so close to the driver & front passenger's ears. It's just the low end that is disappointing, the most it pounds out is that high end blip type bass. I guess I should look into buying a mono amp & subwoofer. Believe it or not my old '01 Toyota Celica GTS (not the GT!) had the best sounding stock system I had ever heard. I think it was made by JBL? What I really admire about the ML system is the fact you can play DVD Audio discs - 4.7 gigs of music on a single disc makes my 6 disc mp3 CD changer look like a joke. Plus I noticed that some 2008+ Infiniti models have a USB input just beneath the stereo so you can connect a USB dongle with all your music, or an iPod
  17. Come on now, if you could get your dealership to cover the cost of a repair i'm sure you guys'd try to :whistles: Besides, it always amazes me how much they treat you like family when you buy the vehicle, then treat you like you're that long lost uncle they want nothing to do with when it comes to issues of what is not covered under warranty. Okay okay 2% of me feels bad for lying, now my nose grew 2 inches
  18. Hey hey now, i'm a former Toyota driver & read my manual from front to back B) I just think Toyota/Lexus should keep such nice features on their higher end vehicles. The fact that you can get it on something as cheap as a Corolla lessens the appeal, exclusivity.
  19. Okay but the AFS, how many degrees do the lights actually turn left/right? I barely notice a difference in lighting making turns. For my ride it's another useless feature. God how I want that radar cruise control! :D
  20. #1 Definately the bluetooth handsfree phone calling #2 The attention I get driving down the street, what a beautiful design #3 Touchscreen nav #4 Automatic temperature control, just like in the house #5 The way the speedometer & tachometer light up & do a full swing when you start up the car #6 Keyless entry/start system, can you believe they have this for the Corolla now?? #7 Rear view camera
  21. I started noticing some vibration from the steering wheel, floor & seat the past few weeks. I brought my IS250 AWD to a Toyota mechanic I know personally and he found that there was a bulge on the side of my front driver's side tire. I took the car back to the dealership & had to fight to get them to cover the cost to replace it. They said, "it's wear & tear & it's not covered under warranty, you must've hit a pothole". Of course I denied it (even though I did during the Xmas holidays, a real deep one, salt kills the roads during the winter). Anyway I got them to cover half the cost of the replacement tire & labour. They also told me that the IS series has low-profile tires for better handling but they are more sensitive to damage. So now every time I drive I am paranoid of going over another big bump or pothole that might damage my tires. Are they really that sensitive? Oh & thankfully there was no rim damage...
  22. Hi everyone, just got myself registered. New owner of a black on black IS250 AWD, Luxury package w/Nav. Had my eye on the IS350 since its birth but could not get myself to buy a rear wheel drive vehicle given the frigid conditions outside, too much snow up here! Yes i'm still crying & want one so bad, but i'll have to appreciate what I have... Atleast now I never get stuck in the snow like I did last year with my Celica GTS. So IS350 owners, is the Mark Levinson sound system that much better than mine? Curious to know, i'm an audio engineer at heart, true audiophile. Also, those stock rim options for the IS350 are some beauties. I got stuck with what you guys throw on only in the winters all year round :( Okay enough whining, just wanted to introduce myself :whistles: Amer Qureshi Toronto, Ontario, Canada P.S. That 'Hell' is suppose to be 'Hello' but this thing won't let me edit the title
  23. I wish I had it. Tried it out on an Infiniti M35X, loved it! I swear regular cruise control sucks. Too bad they removed radar cruise control on all Canadian IS models... instead we get those pointless headlamp washers - what a waste
