  1. check from top and underneath the car and all the bolts surrounding the timing belt cover have been worked on. I think if they go all the way to remove all the bolts then it should be good. Happy ending! Thanks everyone for the input, you guys rock!
  2. Thanks for the info. Drove 200 miles and no warning light, brake feel the same as before. I will jack up the car and see if they really change the timing belt or not. If not then I will pay then a visit with my attorney :)
  3. Yesteray autoshop reset the computer and told me the warning light should come back in 20 mins. I then carefully drove home and go to work this morning and warning light still not on. I will try to push it harder today and see what's up.. I think all it need is just a good reset and drive slowly to let the computer learn the new pressure in the brake system. And I believe they push it too hard while test drove it and trigger the computer.
  4. My friend recommended me this shop because of the price. This is my first time having people working on my car and sigh.... probably the last time.
  5. Hi folks, I sent in my 2006 Lexus RX 400H for maintenance (local autoshop), they change the timing belt, rotate tires and also flush the brake fluid for less than 300 bucks. Sounds good right? Right after the brake job finished the "check VSC system" light is on and they are not able to reset it, I left my car overnight and the mechanic called me and told me that the brake pump failed. They said they are trying to find an used one for me because dealer charge $4000 for the parts.....???!!WTF ??? I am a car person and I got all kind of tools at home even the lift. This is the first time I send my car out for maintenance because I have a new born at home and I don't have any time or energy to work on the car. Please give me advices on how I should go from here. Is there anything I should check before spending more money? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi everyone, The following fix is for 2006 RX 400h headlight and I believe it can be applied to all others. I bought my 2006 RX 400H two months ago and it has headlight condesnation problem since day one (driver side). I check online and can't really find any helpful information. Most of the people has it fixed under warranty but unfortunately mine is out therefore I decide to try to fix it myself before spending thousand dollar on a new one. first, you have to take out the headlight assembly, there are totally 4 bolts you need to loose up and also you need to take out part of the bumper in order to slide the headlight out. Here is the look of the headlight from the back: Once you take it out, you will be able to access all the light bulbs. I found that almost all the rubber O-ring on the bulb socket were cooked. See the picture below and you will understand what I'm talking about. I believe that's where most of the mostiure/water get in the headlight. I bought my new O-Ring assortment from Harbor Freight. 20 bucks for the whole box. Once you replace all the broken O-Rings, you might want to try to seal the assembly along the cover with outdoor silicon to stop the water leaking in from the side. Remember to tape it first, you don't want the silicon to ruin the cover. You will see a gap between the lens/cover and the assembly body. Just fill up that gap and wait for it to cure. While you waiting the silicon to cure, use the hair dryer to dry up all the mositure trap inside. It might take from 10 mins to an hour depend on how much of water were traped inside. And that's it !! put the headlight back in carefully and don't wash the car for couple days to let the silicon fully dry. My headlight doesn't have any condesnation problem since then, I drove it in the rain and also on highway speed for couple weeks and it's still clean!! I believe the fix is fairly easy, everyone should be able to finish it within hours :) Good luck!! Cheers, Derek Chiou
  7. Not trying to be the moral police or anything, but downloading software from the internet is bad, mmmkay? Even if it weren't illegal, many of the downloads are faulty and don't work correctly, as you can see here. I agree, beside, nothing on the net seems to work, I've burnt more than 30 coasters in the past few days... that translate to 100 bucks and lot of time down to the drain. So.. get it on eBay and save yourself time and money!!
  8. Same thing here, I download the 6.1 from net and loss the ability to choose map location.
