  1. I have the same thing on the same vehicle. Sort of a whining noise at the same speed you mention. Mainly seems to occur when coasting or with foot on the gas to maintain speed. I had my mechanic look at it and he found nothing wrong. So, other than the noise, it doesn't seem to affect performance.
  2. I'm stuck. I removed old struts, and have the new struts in place but now I can't get the lower bolt into the mount. Is there any trick to this? How do you get the alignment correct between the top 3 bolts and the bottom bolt? I think I'm in a little bit of a bind and nothing will budge.
  3. Just purchased an 04 for $16K with 89K miles. I went ahead and changed the timing belt, trans fluid and brakes. So I think I've got a pretty good vehicle for a while.
  4. Transmission, transmission, TRANSMISSION!!! Actually, I haven't heard of problems with the transmission in the newer (after 2003) RXs. I thought the transmission problems were the older RX300 model, among those, particularly the AWD 1999-2001? Make sure they have a full complement of keys. These are very expensive if you have to go to Lexus. I just bought a '04 and when I went to pick it up the guy only had one key. I checked on pricing with Lexus and if you get the key with full remote it's about $300. A key without remote is over $100. Otherwise just make sure the main services have been done per the schedule and you should be in good shape. If it's certified, shouldn't be a problem.
  5. Just got the vehicle back from the shop and my brakes were just in really bad shape. Replace rotors and pads on the front and it works perfectly now.
  6. I just bought a 2004 RX330. When I test drove the vehicle, I thought the brakes felt soft on the first stop, but then the brakes felt fine the rest of the test drive. So, then I wasn't sure about that first stop and what I felt, since I couldn't recreate it. Now that we have the vehicle, every time we turn it off and restart, the pedal nearly goes to the floor on the first stop. After that, the brakes are fine. I've checked brake fluid and topped it off, still same problem. I'm going to take it in to have it checked, but has anyone ever experienced the same thing or have any input? I've searched and can't find a topic that matches this problem, so any help would be appreciated. I've seen some topics on a TSIB for a Brake Booster. Could this be the problem?
  7. I appreciate the response. I hear the pump cycling also. I pulled the TRAC ECU, but the pump is still cycling. I'll try pulling the assemby. Thanks
  8. I have a 94 LS400 and my TRAC light comes on soon after starting to drive. I checked the OBDI code and it showed that my TRAC or ABS/TRAC ecu (code 43) is causing the problem. My problem is getting to these ECUs since they are located behind the dash on the passenger side. I don't want to tear up anything on the dash trying to get to these ECUs. Does anyone know how to get to these ECUs? An update: I was able to get to the ECU, I removed it and decided not to replace it due to the $1000 cost. If anyone wants to know how to get to this ECU, let me know and I'll try to help.
